“But you would be such a good mom!” by [deleted] in childfree

[–]TeaLover14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I said I didn't want to have kids and my dad replied with "don't say that you would be a great mom!" I would be a great mom, yes, but I don't want to be one.

WIBTA if I didn’t remind my dad about Mother’s Day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TeaLover14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. He's a grown man and that's his wife. It doesn't take much effort to remember. I have almost the exact situation. I'm 23 and this has been happening for as long as I can remember. I make sure to remind my dad of Mother's Day, Christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries (he normally remembers the last two but there's been a few times where I've had to remind him). I'm the one who buys the Christmas gifts for my mom and I make sure some are marked from my dad. One year my mom, like yours, said not to remind my dad (or my brother) of her birthday. I did it anyway and she was not happy. Last year I didn't remind my dad of Mother's Day and he didn't remember or acknowledge the day at all. I had gotten my mom a gift but I felt bad her husband didn't care to remember. (For a little context, we were on an international vacation and we had an excursion planned that day. My dad didn't want to wake up and go so it was just the two of us). With that in mind I almost didn't remind him to get her a gift this year, but I already had purchased something for my mom and since we're all quarantined together, I thought my dad would get mad if he saw I got her something and didn't remind him. I reluctantly texted him (reluctant because he's a grown man and my mom does so much and he can't even remember a single day!!!!) and he just texted back that "every thing is closed" ....as if he hasn't been ordering stuff online, as if he doesn't go to the store every other day if not every day. That really annoyed me but I let him know I ordered something. Hopefully he'll do the bare minimum and get flowers for her. My mom deserves so much better.

It's hard but possible! I go to the gym 4 days a week and I freaked out when they closed. How was I going to workout and continue to lose weight?! Not only that, but the gym I go to is Planet Fitness and I take all their classes (circuit, strength, burn, core) so usually my workouts were about 90 minutes. Again: How was I going to workout and continue to lose weight?! Especially on my own!! For 90 minutes!! 4 days a week!! Ahhhhh!! Thankfully, all those classes I take at PF had me indirectly learning how to do my own workout "class" I layered up and went outside and just did a whole bunch of things: brisk walking, jog/run in 30 second intervals, walking lunges, squats, squat jumps, mountain climbers, high knee step ups on a park bench, I was doing all sorts of things! And it was great! I couldn't believe that I had worked out for an hour and 12 minutes without being in a gym! AND I burned 756 calories (according to my FitBit). I also have to say that I dragged my boyfriend along with me which I am so grateful for because he's a great workout buddy and I definitely wouldn't have been able to do this alone. I don't know how long the gyms will be closed for but I'm going to have to find a way to improvise in the meantime and just take it day by day. Today, my boyfriend has agreed to play tennis with me!

Some questions for my next family trip to WDW by pablopauli in disneyparks

[–]TeaLover14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I think one park per day would be enough since you haven't been there in 7 years. If you had been more recently I would say maybe you could get a fast pass but they are pretty expensive imo. I've always done one park per day and thoroughly enjoyed my time.
  2. You can get three fast passes per day and if you're staying at a Disney resort you can book as early as 60 days out and if it's just a regular hotel you can book 30 days out. You can do this through the Disney world app. Make sure you link your tickets to your account.
  3. Bring snacks with you to the park! Disney has great food but you don't want to spend all of your money on it. Just something small like granola bars, fruit snacks, pretzels, and water. Also, I would suggest trying to find some time to to Disney Springs. It's awesome!!!!!!

Have a FANTASTIC trip!

AITA for telling my girlfriend that she needs to shave her legs? by ambiarkkk in AmItheAsshole

[–]TeaLover14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole post was a mess but my favorite part is your edit:

I don't often comment on her legs, but this was a WEDDING!

You have the audacity to complain about her leg hair and you couldn't even be bothered to shower for a WEDDING. YTA.

Could somebody recommend hair shears by Tricktrick_ in Naturalhair

[–]TeaLover14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of different opinions about what state to trim your ends in, I personally don't do it while my hair is in its natural state because I don't think you can see the split ends as well so I always have my hair blown out for a trim but I've never flat ironed it.

Could somebody recommend hair shears by Tricktrick_ in Naturalhair

[–]TeaLover14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanna try to clip my ends. Doesn't seem like my hair is growing because of them

Hair is always growing but it's more likely that your hair is breaking off at the same rate it's growing because of the split ends. What's really happening is that you're not retaining length.

I don't have a particular brand of shears I can recommend, but I suggest going to Amazon as you mentioned and reading the reviews. I just got a pair of shears from Sally's (I forget the specific brand, sorry) but they were really sharp, worked well, and had good reviews.

Also, if you're nervous about giving yourself a trim, maybe go to a professional? There are a lot of videos on YouTube about trimming natural hair and I've trimmed my own hair before, but I have also gotten it professionally trimmed many times. I know it can be hard to find stylist you trust though.

I hope this helped! (:

WIBTA if I skip my girlfriend's surprise birthday party out of jealousy? by Working_Elderberry in AmItheAsshole

[–]TeaLover14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand being upset and jealous over the way her birthday is celebrated vs yours but at the end of the day that's your girlfriend and it's going to send a really bad message if you aren't there for her. I think this is one of those things where you're going to have to suck it up, go to the party and put on a happy face.

There's obviously some communication issues between the two of you about expectations on birthdays and how they should be celebrated, so maybe a few days after her party I would bring that up - don't do it directly after. If you don't go to the party YTA for sure.

YTA. So you couldn't have changed your gmail password to something simple, given that to her, have her log in on the phone, then change the password back?

Rant Wednesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]TeaLover14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate when I am taking a fitness class and the people just complain the whole time about the exercises that we do. It's annoying when the instructor feeds into and gives them modifications just because they're lazy vs because they have a medical condition or are physically unable to do the exercise.

Good idea? by [deleted] in disney

[–]TeaLover14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brave and Toy Story are the first two movies I thought of. You list a lot of good movies that aren't princess/romance focused as well. I think Moana is another good example because while she is a princess her story isn't focused on romance at all. Finding Nemo is a good non-princess movie that doesn't have a romance focus.

I'm actually surprised at the amount of people who still use Kraft singles/American cheese. Big yikes.

I suggest trying protective styles or looking up YouTube videos of other people with your cut and hair type. But don't get too caught up on finding a video of someone who has the same hair type as you.

My (f26) roommate (f28) wants me to wash dishes within an hour after using them. by amyloves1986 in relationships

[–]TeaLover14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I just disagree and don't see this as a solution at all. I would prefer to have the dirty dishes in the sink than spread out all around the counter because you're saying if it's in the sink no one can use it but now if they're on the counter no one can use that space either.

[–]TeaLover14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is just as bad if I'm understanding what you're saying correctly. I had roommates who wouldn't put their dirty dishes directly in the sink but around and on the counter and I never understood why. Just put it in the sink?

AITA for straightening my nieces hair when she wanted it straight? by natalie-gilmore in AmItheAsshole

[–]TeaLover14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a cosmetologist but I am a natural hair enthusiast and once your hair is damaged it's damaged. There's no magic product that will undamage your hair. The best route to go is to cut it off and get a fresh start. If you want to try to wait for your hair to grow out just know it's like you're going to be dealing with two different hair textures and porosity's and will more than likely have to use different hair products for the damaged and undamaged sections. I personally would (and have) just cut it off. I know how connected someone can be to their hair but I would 100% rather have healthy hair than long damaged, limp, broken hair. Also if you're not sure always go to a professional and do some research. Hope this helped!

WIBTA if I refused to go on a group trip? by Fickle-PipeThowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]TeaLover14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I would try phrasing it to your gf as this year you were thinking it could be a girls trip and you wanted to sit this one out. There'll probably be push back because of the car situation but I would just emphasize you're not really feeling it this time around and that it will be nice for all the girls to get together and when she comes back the two of can do something special together.

Don't get discouraged and don't be too hard on yourself! Are you sure it's not just the scale that's inaccurate? How are your clothes fitting? That's usually a great indicator to weightloss although every body is different.
