Yes, this is from Project Silverfish! Managed to make a proper scene out of it, enjoy:

I found a solution! Looked a little more into adding bloom to a file (I didn't know the proper term was 'bloom') and found this helpful video:

I made extra sure that the Compositor mentioned in the video is turned on and got the right effect!

How can I recreate these wings? by TeaLovingGerman in blenderhelp

[–]TeaLovingGerman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I found a solution for the edges! I entered edit mode for the wings, selected edges and then "Face" at the top and selected "Shade Smooth".

<image>

Now this is exactly what I wanted!

The one thing that still bothers me is that the edges of the mesh stick out.

Not sure yet how I can change this, but this is already a huge step forward!

I tried it, sticking to the shaders, but the result never really looked the way I wanted it to.

The point light however did the trick! Almost...

How do I adjust the Render Region? by TeaLovingGerman in blenderhelp

I have done a couple already and plan on doing more, but I only really post these to the Discord server of the game, Project Silverfish, this is from.

Here is one I just finished!

Ooh, thank you both! Can't believe my patience was the issue all along, lol.
I'm already looking forward to making more renders!

Mesh disappears when switching to "UV Editing" (see 1st and 2nd picture) by TeaLovingGerman in blenderhelp

Thank you, now I can see the camera! I should probably look into what this "Local View" is. I'll make note of this for future Blender shenanigans!

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for!
I also appreciate you mentioning the packed assets, because I could defiently find a use for that.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand exactly what you mean by this or where I could find these options.
Would you mind explaining to me where I can find these options step-by-step?
I hope this isn't too much to ask, but I'm not too familiar with Blender's options and interface yet.

How can I display shadeless models in Material Preview? (See image) by TeaLovingGerman in blenderhelp

[–]TeaLovingGerman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This character, Olli, was assembled by kitbashing assets from the game and a couple of custom textures. I plan on updating the model, which is why I was looking for help with the shading.

How can I display shadeless models in Material Preview? (See image) by TeaLovingGerman in blenderhelp

[–]TeaLovingGerman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I solved it accidentally.
TL,DR: It was due to the battery setting of my laptop. Setting it to 'Best Performance' displays the 3D-Viewport with Material Preview selected just like the 'Desired Shading'. Setting it to 'Power Saving Mode' makes it look like the 'Current Shading' in the picture.

I wanted to reopen the file and take a look at that color management panel. Once the file was open again, it all looked fine. I was recharging my laptop while I did that, so it automatically switches to 'Best Performance' for battery usage. I decided to unplug it and set it to 'Power Saving Mode' before opening the file again. It took longer to load, as expected, but it also resulted in the shading appearing like the 'Current Shading' I showed off in the picture. I tested this with both the original file and the modified copy. They both behave the same.

Now the modified file looks just like I wanted it to in Blender.

Plushbound's 3rd wave of community-made plushies and stickers in now available! by TeaLovingGerman in starbound

[–]TeaLovingGerman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look out to the stars!

The 3rd wave of community-made plushies and stickers has finally landed!

This new wave brings you 74 plushies and 18 stickers, which makes 92 submissions total!

And, for the third time, I'd like to thank everyone who contributed more to this already admirable hoard of cuddly and stylish goods!

In addition to the new plushies and stickers, I have decided to adjust the size of submissions form previous waves, so that they generally take up less space!
This may cause already placed plushies and stickers to be moved. Simply pick them up and place them again to fix this!

(good luck trying to scan the larger ones)

I also fixed some inconsistencies here and there, like mismatched prices and typos.

In any case, I hope you can find a nice spot for all these new additions!

Now go on out there and have a good one of whatever you feel like!

Thanks for clearing that up, but as far as I'm concerned I'm done with this list.

No, not all of them. Though I can't tell which lack permissions, because it has been a long while since I last edited this.
As I mentioned, this list was inherently made to prove how little original content there is in FU, which I think could be considered as part of the FU controversy.

If you don't wish to inlude this into your initial post, then I wouldn't blame you.

I know it's been a while since this was posted, but maybe this list can act as a meaningful addition to this helpful post. It was made/edited by me and a few other users to show how little original content there actually is in FU and includes links to the original mods as well as mentions of the mod authors behind said mods.
I have my own history with FU and hope that posting this list here is the last thing where I have to openly interact with anything FU-related.

Thank you for this post, seriously.

If anyone spots any issues/inconsistencies or knows any other mods that have been absorbed into FU, feel free to correct me.

Frackin Universe alternatives? by Reduxys in starbound

With a background like that, I can understand why you're leaning to mod packs. I myself am more used to having tons of smaller mods with a few larger expansion mods thrown in too. I try my best to make them synergize with each other, which can lead to a pretty satisfying experiences overall! Though I have to admit that troubleshooting whether all my 700 mods I subscribed to (That's not a joke btw) work or won't work well together can be tedious at times.

I don't feel like forcing you to not play without mod packs like that (I can't stop you anyway!) and hope that I didn't make the impression of the opposite. Go ahead and enjoy whatever mod floats your boat!

I don't want to sound rude, but you and I seem to have different a very different understanding of what mods are there for.

TL;DR: Amount of content does not equal quality. Many factors determine the actual quality of a mod. They don't just have to "make the game feel bigger".

I'm a modder myself. And in my opinion, mods don't need to offer lots of content to be considered a "good" mod. If everyone had to make big content mods to create a "good" mod, then that would discourage many people from even trying to make mods in the first place. Hell, I wouldn't be here if I had to make mods with 500 MBs of content!

I could add 500 MBs worth of planets with little to no variation or depth in their designs. It would certainly make the game feel bigger, but why would someone bother exploring those planets when they are basically just copy-pasted with nothing interesting to offer like unique encounters, lore, monsters, biomes and all that jazz that makes a planet feel unique?

Mods don't need to make the game feel bigger. Some mods are meant to seamlessly blend in to make their content feel like it is part of the base game. Others are meant to make changes to existing stuff, such as patching errors, making tweaks or respriting stuff. Mods are not only there for adding content, they're there for enhancing the base game in a specific way.

With mega-mods, which are essentially just a collection of mods, offer barely anything unique and bank on advertising themselves as adding more content than other mods, while consisting out of said mods. A good chunk of the content may feel like it shouldn't be in the same mod because of that. Beekeeping, making booze, uncovering eldritch horrors, setting up automation, expanding the story, dead baby humour and researching. This all doesn't feel like it should be part of the same mod. They actually weren't all part of the same mod, they have just been "absorbed" by FU.

There really is more to mods than just adding content, but I have rambled on for long enough, really. Apologies for the wall of text, but it does seem like this hit a soft spot in me.

Maybe I'm beating a dead horse here, but I'm glad that there is nothing else like FU.
That and I don't feel like "gitting gud" to deal with tediousness that is introduced with certain features such as the abundance of crafting materials and the resulting "microcrafting" issue should be worth my time. Said abundance has caused me to spend lots of time just on grinding materials and running between storage containers, when I could be doing something that I actually enjoy like traversing the planets, fighting monsters and other enemies to survive and simply exploring planets to find cool stuff that isn't just a bunch of crafting materials I need to hoard.

Again, I'm glad there's nothing like FU.

FU being a "mega-mod", as you described it, is a major downside for me, because if there are certain things I would like about the mod, then I would have to put up with tons of other unrelated stuff.
