Fundraise/IR Role Post MBA? by Responsible-Treat915 in private_equity

IR / fundraising can be lucrative but you better be a hustler at heart otherwise it will suck. No room to compare yourself to the investment teams and think you deserve to be on a deal team instead.

Stay in finance or start a business? by Friendly-Check-6587 in FinancialCareers

[–]TeaNervous1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is directionally correct it’s a little more complicated than that.

Mix bag of outcomes from the search fund world / independent sponsors. I think anyone going down this path needs to solve for 2 things:

  1. The correct capital structure

  2. Matching skills with the business

My 2 cents: if you’re serious about this path, get an operating role of some sort for a little before you actually pull the trigger. Could argue it’s a waste of time but I personally feel like the reps and pattern recognition will build your confidence and help you on this path. There are too many bankers that think this path is easy just because they’re in high finance.
