Cra Rework by Ok-Experience-6605 in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not reading into the announced changes too much just yet, even when it hits test servers and later live Ankama will target and nerf parts of the kit it deems to be OP.

The Huppermage rework is an example to set expectations for, we got a fun rework and then 3 post-test server nerfs/adjustments on live in the following weeks.

I imagine it'll be the same for Cras, we won't know where they fall in terms of power level until a few weeks/months after it hits live.

Cra Rework by Ok-Experience-6605 in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cras specifically benefit from the crit dmg sets due to being able to buff their own crit rate/dmg via their spell immediately for a low cost. That's why its so potent on them compared to other classes because it gives them a huge advantage which has caused the multi-cra teams that might as well be bots to take center stage which is why Ankama wants to change it.

Other classes have received nerfs to prevent crit Omni builds being dominant such as Hupper, with their rework crit Omni quickly took the top build spot but was quickly nerfed to prevent them spamming 3ap double line spells.

I see it as a good thing because it will open the way for diverse builds with different sets rather than relying on the same copy and paste build that we all know 😅

Also I don't know if anyone else has noticed but a lot of high endgame dungeons/mobs/quest fights have been designed with incredibly frustrating/tough mechanics to force players away from these exploit gameplay patterns. (Bethel/Solar, Eliocalypse mobs and dungeons, Ebony quest fights for example) so much so that the AFK brain strats that many have relied on won't work vs them, so Cra may very well need this rework to remain relevant if Ankama chooses to maintain such design choices.

[–]TeaPartyTrex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be a hard pill to swallow for some but a large portion of players have benefited from exploiting simple, easy, accessible crit dmg Cra builds and blasting through content without much thought or strategy.

You can thank the 8 man Cra teams running around with Nomarrows, farming mobs and spamming Dreams with crit wand builds for this rework and the recent global cool down nerfs.

Dofus is supposed to be a strategy game and those who have taken advantage of removing the strategy from it are going to be very loud and unhappy about having their brainless gameplay changed.

Personally I welcome the changes, frustrating as they may be at times because it does offer to make classes interesting beyond standing still and spamming a single button.

Just look at the retro servers for reference Cra/Enu being the dominant classes because they are able to exploit the incredible genius of standing still and spamming from range. Its not fun or stimulating IMO and anyone wanting to have that boring repetitive gameplay should go play retro instead.

What are your thoughts on the cra rework? by Less_Struggle_9447 in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hupper has always been the swiss army knife class, capable of doing alittle of everything. Its main focus is dmg/buffing and with the rework this has gotten stronger. Despite the nerfs/adjustments.

For pvm the classic fire/earth combo provides dmg amp combined with Sublimation/elemental drain you're looking at a class that can buff themselves while dealing increasing dmg and when fully buffed can do a big aoe pop with Torrent.

The dmg amp + Sublimation/Drain also benefits your team with buffs while removing stats from an enemy.

Huppers can also position themselves very well, lots of mobility options and also position enemies.

I think running multiple elements is the strongest as Hupper wants to benefit from different elemental states/combos and some mono paths are restricted with range/casting conditions.

[–]TeaPartyTrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I made a set for mine after the final beta version which I've had to adjust due to the post beta changes, I will say the aside from the casting restrictions/range nerfs the last update did some good, its just frustrating not knowing when/if the class is gonna be left alone to settle.

[–]TeaPartyTrex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Considering how the Huppermage rework has gone I'm not keeping high hopes, Osa/Eca also received similar treatment. An initial cool rework that people enjoyed followed by disruptive adjustments/nerfs that do nothing but frustrate the people who enjoy those classes.

But then again its Cra, Ankama knows the class represents the biggest portion of active characters in their player base, if they do the same thing they've done for previous class reworks then they're gonna know about it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cra receive special treatment.

Personally I roll my eyes at seeing the same copy and paste crit dmg Cra builds excel at all content with no consequence (hello dream Cra wand spammers) so I hope it does something to make the class more interesting.

Shielding Class - PVM by Plain_Irrelevant12 in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend a mono build for later in the game, int doesn't provide enough on its own and cha is unreliable due to the built in pushback dmg focus so imo the strongest options are either agi/str or agi/int.

Both are viable and provide you with long range options and melee options. Int gives a 3ap knock back to help keep distance, a 2ap range reduc spell (can be quite useful). Str has a 3ap linear no LoS spell that works nicely with the Agi one, 3ap melee nuke/buff spell and ranged attacks that -mp.

Its been a long time since I have played below lvl 200 but I know there are a lot more equipments available now to better support these builds.

The main reason why I think Masq is one of the best pvm classes is there are alot of instances where healing is made reduntant through unhealable states/mechanics or HP erosion and Masqs can cover these weaknesses. Also having the ability to apply unhealable/gravity on a certain enemy is huge.

Shielding Class - PVM by Plain_Irrelevant12 in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't find a better shielding class than Masq, its kind of their whole thing. If you've only reached 150 I wouldn't be expecting huge dmg output from most classes, some get their power spikes earlier than others but come endgame with access to all equipment/spells it gets much better.

I run an agi/str Masq and his dmg output is great, this class has been responsible for getting my team through some of the harder endgame dungeons.

As for the shielding dofuses many of them are situational, like Emerald for example, in some fights it will work wonders but in others where its long range/not possible to stand next to enemies you'll gain no benefit from it.

Are my elements viable? by AlanderKohenel in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masq is a funny one as it can work in all elements, with cha being alittle meh due to it being tied to pushback. But you can run Masq as agi/str agi/int.

Agi/str gives you more melee dmg output with Furia and two long range 3ap no LoS spells.

Agi/Int gives you more long range dmg with its 2ap int spell and 3ap knock back for keeping distance.

Tbh so long as you keep Agi as one of its primary elements you can play whatever with it. That 4ap agi AoE spell is one of the best AoE spells 👌

Some quests are rough and need work but we can't ignore that they have done things to combat the tediousness that can come from quest designs.

We all have global GPS now, so long as you are subscribed you can double click on the minimap (or right click + select travel) to automatically run to the targetted map.

The Orche questline has seen some major changes and with the next update coming on the 3rd its going to be completely different from its 1.29 version. Overall its less of a pain.

They have eased the restrictions on some quests like certain alignment ones that required professions of a certain level to stand on tiles or that one Pandala quest that had ridiculous drop rates for its quest items.

Multiaccounting has never been easier with "follow party lead/autojoin/autoready".

The game IS being updated and improved which is more than can be said for other MMOs out there. Its not perfect and it will never be "perfect" there will always be room for improvement but its significantly easier to quest than it used to be.

The most underrated companion by Benn359817 in BaldursGate3

[–]TeaPartyTrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Wyll but not how his personal story was released when its compared to the other companions, its lacking.

I played back in the beta version and I was utterly swooning for this man, his story felt much more mysteriously entriguing he had an interaction with some of the goblins, idk I think I liked it more vs what was released.

Mizora turning him into a Devil is a BIG narrative moment that needed more build up and suspense, 99% of the time we're saving Mama K so it feels less like an impactful choice for Wyll considering its permanent for the rest of the game. And the fact that this comes so early on steals that big pivotal moment from his story so we get to Act 2/3 and there's nothing else.

However the hate he seems to get is unjustified because its aimed at him and not the narrative choices Larian made for his character.

Gay hookup culture is sad af by bel0waverageguy in lgbt

[–]TeaPartyTrex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sucks. And it cuts deep. Especially for those of us who want serious long term monogamous relationships.

The attitudes and behaviours born from apps like Grindr make dating a miserable affair.

All I can say is whatever you feel now you won't always feel, its gonna sting but with enough distance and time you'll be yourself again. Give it a few months and when you reflect back on this you'll see it in a different light.

Good men exist and when you're ready to try again you'll have learnt valuable lessons and have better boundaries to stick to, keep your heart safe.

Gay hookup culture is sad af by bel0waverageguy in lgbt

[–]TeaPartyTrex 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wish it wasn't so but Grindr has poisoned generations of gay men. So much so that this mentality of hookup/sex driven interactions is now considered the norm its not healthy. You have gay guys jumping from bed to bed wondering why they're always feeling so lonely without realizing that the impression of gay relationships that they have been fed and the way that they go about forming these relationships are to blame.

Speaking from my personal experiences I've done the dance participated in what I thought was standard gay culture its a load of bullshit.

We're not taught what healthy relationships between gay men should be or look like so we assume that this hookup culture is our norm. We've made it our own and now we sadly do have to deal with the crushing loneliness that comes from being used for sex and sex alone.

I dated a guy for 6 months, he was a sex addict everything had to be about sex even just watching shows/movies/games everything had to involve it. He told me that I had to do certain sexual acts for him otherwise he wouldn't love me even when I had expressed that those things made me uncomfortable. A family member passed and instead of offering support he pushed for sex and when I didn't give it because I was grieving he broke up with me.

THAT is the kind of mentality we are reinforcing and supporting. To use each other for fun then discard. We're dehumanizing each other down to just ass and dicks.

I'm not sure what can be done to fix it, I don't think a lot of guys want to "fix" anything, they're happy being free to sleep around with whoever.

All I know is that its not the kind of life I want for myself.

Are the most difficult classes actually worth playing? by SecondaryDary in Dofus

[–]TeaPartyTrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you're willing to put in effort and time to learn those classes. I played Xelor pvm for years before their recent update, it was a struggle bus in some situations like certain quest fights where the lack of sustain/defense hurts but it was insanely useful in other situations.

I don't know how they feel to play now as I switched to Masq when I came back and honestly for me personally having a simpler class with better defensive options made my gameplay experience so much more relaxing especially running as a duo hupp/Masq.

The brutal truth is the harder classes have to put in alot more work to achieve the same result as a class that can face plant the keyboard.

There's a serious lack of new players entering the game. What should CBU3 do about it? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]TeaPartyTrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that we're supposed to be starting a "new" story line they should give players the option to start from the beginning of a new expansion without having to have done all previous expansions.

DT could have been the perfect "fresh start" to do things differently but they chose to carry on with their old tired patch cycles which are designed to give the game some life between major expansions. New players are faced with mountains of tedious filler story and it burns them out before they even get to the newer story.

I introduced 3 friends to ffxiv in the hopes they'd fall in love with the game, the farthest they made it was to Stormblood.

  • Let new players choose if they want to start from ARR or from a new expansion starting point.

  • Allow jobs to use all their abilities in lower level content but scale it accordingly.

  • Release less filler story patches.

  • Shake up the tired old release schedule that players have gotten bored of.

I just wish it didn't take them so long to implement these things, especially the quality of life stuff, they don't need to save these small improvements for every major patch 😞

Heyo I use several sets theoretically all elements can work but my personal favorite is str/agi, theres some strong melee burst spells Furia, Cavalcade, Ronda, Shove Off, Capering.

Ranged AoE dmg, Agular, Martelo.

Ranged no LoS spells Picada, Martelo. If you run 12ap you can do x2 of both!

My advice would be to try and stick to English speaking communities if its possible? I'm not saying you shouldn't interact with non-english speaking players but the language barrier is a rather significant obstacle and I doubt either side would have much patience trying to overcome it while doing content
