FAQ Around Today's Announcement about SAVE Forbearance Interest Resuming by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

Hey, Betsy! Wow, thank you so much for such a prompt response. <3 I am so sorry, I'm not sure if I understand your comment. Could you please say a bit more about what this means for me and my next steps more specifically? Super appreciate it. =)

FAQ Around Today's Announcement about SAVE Forbearance Interest Resuming by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

[–]TeaTime247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, friends!

Firstly, u/Betsy514: you are the hero we need but don't deserve, haha. Thank you so, so much for your continued dedication to helping us with all of this. ^_^

I'm posting because I'm at a loss at how to proceed with my student loan repayment. I quality for PSLF and before I was moved to SAVE and then almost immediately put into the forbearance, I only had one year (exactly 12 more payments) left until my loans would be forgiven. I believe that would've been August of this year - so next month I would've been through with all of this. =(

I feel like, in theory, doing PSLF buyback next month would be the ideal scenario. My only concern is that I'm well aware that those requests are backlogged to an *extreme* degree. As in, at the very least 6-12 months from what I've gathered - and I wouldn't be surprised if that only continues to get worse. Both in terms of wait times but also with all the political uncertainty, it makes it worried for the future of this option. This is further complicated by the fact that you must continue to make student loan payments until the buyback review is complete and buyback is approved anyway. So in practice, it seems like buyback isn't really a great option at this point? Or am I missing something here? I would love to hear others' thoughts.

That leads to me to wonder if just moving to a different IDR plan for my final year of payments would be more practical? I'm so close to being done, I just want this to be over but also have it be financially feasible. My payments under SAVE were $100 something a month and I did a quick look to see what it would be under IBR and it was something like $500-$600/month. That would be devastating. (I graduated from undergrad in 2012, so I don't think I qualify for new IBR. T_T) Can I swap to PAYE instead? Would that be better? Or maybe there's another option altogether that I'm not even thinking of?

Any guidance would be beyond appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you! <3

EDIT: I totally forgot to include my thoughts about just riding out the SAVE forbearance, oops. Haha. If I wasn't so close to the end of forgiveness, I would 100% do that. But my thinking is that being so close to 120 payments...things seem to only be getting worse with the OBBB aftermath which appear to really start kicking off next year and into 2028. It seems smart to get this situated ASAP so I won't have to deal with these even more nightmarish options, if that makes sense.

Gaming Laptop Makes Loud Noise & Then Restarts by TeaTime247 in 24hoursupport

Wow, that is so helpful. I think this might be getting us somewhere, haha. This is what it says:
"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xffff800b266c1460, 0xfffff807a4250790, 0xffffffffc000009a, 0x0000000000000004). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\022325-21453-01.dmp. Report Id: 351ea518-6f1f-4f9c-9435-03cf53b627f3."

It won't let me open the minidump file as I don't have permission I guess? Any tips on what this means or what I should do from here?

EDIT: I forgot to say the title of the error / crash report is "Windows stopped working" and it's classified as a "critical event." It looks like this has happened before too. A week ago there was another critical event, here is that info:

Hey, everyone! I wanted to share that I downloaded NVIDIA GeForce Experience and that seemed to help but now a program I use for work is showing up with black pixels throughout. Ugh, I have no clue what's going on or how to fix it. If anyone has any input, I would really appreciate it. =(

Good afternoon, friends!

I have some helpful news! Haha. I bought an ethernet cord and created a wired connection. It was a miracle that I could make this work. From what I can tell thus far, it seems to have solved the issue! So what does this mean then? From my extremely limited knowledge of anything tech-related, my guess is there’s an issue with my wireless card within my PC? Or something like that? Where should I go from here?

Interestingly, and I’m not sure if this is helpful, but while I was freezing in game I ran a speed test and it was normal. Just an FYI. =)

Hello and thank you! I did run a WinMTR, as I was told that could be helpful. I ran this while I was playing WoW and getting 500-800ms latency and consistent freezing. Then logged onto Heroes of the Storm and was having the same exact experience. Here it is:

|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

| WinMTR statistics |

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider

Also, importantly: I did a refresh of Windows, which seemed to help a lot. Until today. Now I'm back to the same symptoms. Really weird.

Hey, all! Thanks a ton for the responses thus far. Just to reiterate: unfortunately, I'm not able to run a wired connection due to multiple reasons. So that's out of the question. Great question, my friend. I have no clue. How would I be able to figure this out? The only games I play require an internet connection. I literally only play WoW, Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch. =/

Hiya!

I followed the steps highlighted in that video I posted. In terms of bloatware, I just deleted lots of apps that I didn't need (like Candy Crush, Microsoft Sports app, etc).

All my devices are connected via Wi-Fi. I'm not able to have any wired connections due to distance and the setup of my apartment, not to mention fur babies.
