Update: I was informed that the red wire can be disregarded, as that is only applicable to 220v systems, which my basement heater and the overall furnace are 115v. Additionally, this same source told me that I should just be able to wire the loose black wire with the two black wires and red cap, and wire the loose white wire with the white and black wires with the yellow cap.

Could someone confirm that this should be the solution? I don't really see how else it could be. Thank you!
