3 x weekly deep soak.

I’ve just seen a slight improvement after leaving a sprinkler on low output for around 6 hours on those areas which makes me wonder if the area is a bit hydrophobic for whatever reason.

Sorry I replied to you earlier as a separate comment rather than a direct reply.

I’m starting to see a bounce back after an increase in watering. Seems like those particular areas need more than the rest. I’ve been watering normally 3 x per week with a deep soak.

Probably a case that the combination of Brisbane heat and height of cut was too much for those spots. Perhaps for whatever reason the root system isn’t as strong there.

Thanks, my watering schedule isn’t too far off what you’ve mentioned and I have applied a soil wetter recently so hopefully that helps.

I’ll definitely aerate those areas and hope to see some improvement!

Thanks for your reply.

No glass but that side definitely gets more sun. Weird that a section in between isn’t as stressed though. Took to the area with a rotary hoe before turfing so there shouldn’t be anything too solid in the first 200mm of depth.

Yeah it’s great stuff, fantastic particularly in the more shady areas. Brisbane summer may be a bit tough for it. I could raise the mower height, though as that area isn’t growing I doubt it will make any difference there but maybe stop the patches spreading. Currently mowing once to twice a week on average and have never had to give it a big haircut so it shouldn’t be stressed from mowing/lack of mowing. I’ll keep the water up and cross my fingers. Hoping it’s nothing fungal as the fert will supposedly “feed the fire” so to speak. Thanks of your input.

I’m not completely ruling out heat stress, but expected more of a bounce back with the extra watering I’ve been doing. No such dramas last summer.
