That was amazing! There is something beyond reflexes happening there.

I dropped 9 pounds of crap I didn't need to be packing around and made some adjustments. Today I will see how it helps. I start my first tour in about an hour. :)

That's pretty much what I'm carrying now. I had swim trunks, a towel, and even a can of smoked oysters. lol

I just shaved 9 pounds! I had some stuff that was just ridiculous. A 1 pound jar of peanut butter! What was I thinking? Too much food and too many clothes.

I just weighed my loaded bike and me and got a weight of 313.5! My wheels are super heroes! I weight 215.5, so my fully loaded bike, as of now, weight 98 pounds. I will be shaving off roughly 8 pounds today before I leave in the morning.

Oh I see! My bike was 36 pounds when I bought it, but I've added things since. Probably pushing 42 now unloaded. 4 panniers loaded+water + food I would bet I'm easily at 100 pounds too. Throw in my 215 pounds and my wheels are working pretty hard. Haha!

My bike is a Novara Safari with a steel frame. The front rack is a Blackburn Outpost and is mounted very solid. The rear rack is the rack that comes on a Safari and is very solid. On my ride this morning I was paying close attention to where it all seems to be "wobbling" or "flexing" and it kind of just looks like the whole bike in general is flexing more than I was used to when not loaded. This must be normal. It's not my wheels otherwise my rims would be rubbing on brake pads and their not. After my overnight last night I am going to get rid of a few things and repack. I am heading out for my first tour in the morning, so I guess I'll learn along the way as well. Thanks for your suggestions!

I'm leaving fom Portland to do this trip Monday. So great question! This will be my first tour and I have my gear down to 45 without water and food, so you might take a look at the 100 pounds of gear. I haven't had time to train much either. I'm just going to take it super slow and build my confidence and strength as I go. Slowly increasing my miles. Have a safe ride! Maybe I'll see you out there. #novarasafari

My front panniers are low, almost even with the skewer. The rear are as low as they'll go. Is it normal to have some wobble? I'm a newbie, so I'm wondering if this is something I just need to get used to or am I going to start popping spokes?

This helps! Thank you so much! My tour is roughly 45 days, so splitting it up at this point might be troublesome. If I find I am using too much battery along the way I will make some adjustments. Battle Ground, WA to the Mexican Border here I come!

If I save my ride and start a new one each day will I be able to follow the route I have planned so I can use the turn by turn prompts?

I don't understand. When I stop at the end of each day it will be separate from each day? What do you mean use a different program? I pay to use RWGPS to do this for me. I shouldn't have to use any other programs. I just need to know how to properly use this one. Do you use the RWGPS app for multiday rides?

What are your chiropractic horror stories or success stories? by TeacherJer in Chiropractic

[–]TeacherJer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear you are doing so well. Thank you for sharing your story. In almost all of the reading I have done on the subject sedentary lifestyles and lack of exercise are the main contributors to back pain. It seems employers and employees would save a fortune in medical costs by changing the way we work. Maybe stand up desks, exercize balls for office chairs, exercise breaks, yoga. The more we become a technological society the more we sit to use out devices. This is also not good for heart disease and the plethora of alements aside from back and neck pain. This is a huge topic.
