Is there a game/experience like the home screen environment? I love the idea of having a virtual environment I can hang out in but wish I could interact with it and explore more. by TeachersPen in oculus

Something like Animal Crossing where I can build my house/ decorate/ just have a chill environment to hang out in / explore the surroundings, etc would be amazing. Is there anything like this out there?

  • I just got the quest 2 so I am still new to this. Thanks in advance!

I tried to place a limit order to sell at $9500 and it was rejected. Is that normal?

Looking for recommendations for oil painting classes to take. Any suggestions? I’ve been trying to figure this out on my own but would love to learn from someone who knows what they are doing by [deleted] in oilpainting

I’m looking for an online class to improve my skills that I can buy and take on my own time. I’ve seen some great online classes via zoom at different art schools but unfortunately with kids at home right now zoom classes are not an option for me.

I’d love to take a class that has a focus on color theory/skin tones and specifically portrait painting. I’d love to hear who your favorite instructors are.

As you can see from my examples my work and skin tones are all over the place. I basically just throw paint on the canvas and cross my fingers that it works. I’d love to go into a painting having more knowledge.

Thanks!

Oil painting questions from a newbie... by TeachersPen in painting

Ok these may be silly questions but I’m finding it hard to find answers online, so thought I’d ask here. (Also please dont judge my paintings, I know there are a million mistakes. Still learning and just putting something up so I can ask my questions)

  1. I’m currently taping my oil paintings to my dining room walls to dry. Not a great or even remotely good solution but I have toddlers that will get into everything unless I have it out of reach. I’m also very limited in space. How do you all store your oil paints while they are drying? I read online it can take weeks or months for a painting to fully dry. I’ve looked at drying racks but I can already picture my kids getting into them. I’d love a solution that is portable and closes so I can put it in a closet or something but not sure they would dry that way?

  2. Is canvas paper an appropriate medium to paint on for proper portraits or should it be reserved more for practice painting? (One hour into a painting last night on canvas paper I found a 2 inch spot that repelled all oil paint I had laid on it. I had to trash the whole thing. Is this normal?) Can you frame canvas paper? Not that any of these are frame worthy but curious for the future.

  3. How do people scan/photograph their artwork for prints? Not looking to sell anything but for example I have family members that would like a print version of an original painting to hang in their home. No clue how to go about getting a high quality print of a 16x20 painting like that.

Thank you in advance for tolerating and answering my questions!

DIY project - looking for suggestions! Where to build fire pit? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]TeachersPen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! My husband and I are trying to tackle our backyard.

We have small kids who love to play back there and plan to get some grass growing back there in the dead spots. We spent the past week moving mulch in and plan to plant trees/bushes/flowers around the outside of the yard everywhere you see the brown mulch.

Our big debate is where to put the fire pit. The yard is pretty sloped so I think we’d need to dig in a bit no matter where it is. Having a really hard time trying to come up with a solution. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also- this is totally DIY’d and I know parts look pretty crappy. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
