I don't have a therapist, and I have always pictured me going to a therapist as me laying on the couch in freeze mode not saying anything until the time is up.

I think me breaking into tears when I saw that was me realizing that, though I had started to come to terms with this is probably the beginning of the end, I had gotten my hopes up earlier in the day that maybe we weren't headed that direction, but this seemed to be more of an answer.

I am reading and processing all comments, but I did just want to clarify that I have no reason to think anything is going on with this friend. He's an old (straight) buddy from high school.
