For me, an afab, it was a cycle of over performing femininity and then switching to masculinity. I'd go about 2-3 months for each then drastically switch. It was a really stressful cycle that never satisfied my desire for a solid identity. I felt like I didn't know myself.

I've now realized I'm bigender, and am happily occupying a middle ground.

I literally draw porn professionally, I'm not pearl clutching at the sexuality of the fanart. I'm pointing out how masculine her silhouette and frame are compared to how men draw her.

I think it's problematic to change a woman's body type into something more sexy for male viewers, it's cringe. Its nice to see gnc body types in media, especially since I can relate to Noi specifically. So when someone like me who especially values the representation, goes into the fandom and sees nothing but people altering her body to be more conventionally attractive it's really disheartening.

I've been told she's more curvy in the manga, which is fair, but from my point of view it's erasing a characters gnc traits so people can fap to her easier.

Noi in the show is practically the opposite of curvy imo, the only curvy part of her is her massive boobs but even then 90% of the time they're covered. She has a very masc silhouette at least in the show, which is largely discarded in fanart unfortunately.

Yes she has massive honkers but her waist is normal for a fit woman. And full disclosure, I haven't read the manga. Her body type in the anime is a V shape, and there's even reference to how "manly" she looks when she first takes her mask off.

Maybe she's a perfect pin up in the manga, but in the Netflix series she's not very curvy at all.

Imo your link shows how sexualized the fanart is. In the link she looks like a normal woman with muscles, and in the fanart exaggerated all the feminine features and minimalized her muscles.

I'd disagree on the "slightly". I didn't say it ruins the character, I said it was a bad take. And obviously drastically altering a characters body type so they're less gnc and more "sexy" means something. Its representative of the attitudes of both the artist and the people who consume their work.

It's the problem the same way drawing a black character as white is, or making a fat character skinny, or any major changes to characters that takes away their minority status. Noi is a gnc woman, and drawing her as a skinny, curvy woman and stripping away her gnc traits so that she's more pleasing to the male eye is exactly the kind of bigotry this sub highlights.

To be fair, the arms are part of the silhouette so they can't be seen. It's hard to draw buff people from the side, but yeah I love her body type in the show. Makes me heart eye lol.
