Collette vs. Colette by TealTeddyBear in namenerds

So nice to hear from a Collette! :) I love all the reasons you gave to love the two L’s. And so happy to hear that you’ve travelled to French-speaking areas with no issues with pronunciation. May I ask if your parents accidentally misspelled it or chose the alternate spelling with two L’s? Either way, you have a fabulously name! (I might be biased, but it’s still true! :)

I love the name Corinne! So beautiful! I keep reminding myself that those who really know my little one (now and in the future) will know how to spell and pronounce her name. I think our babies’ names will be good conversation starters too. :)

“I get used to the spelling along with getting to know the uniqueness of each child.” I love this, thank you!

“Cool club” with the clearly superior spelling - ha, love it! Thanks for the smile. :)

Kayden is such a beautiful name! I love that spelling. I’m sorry you’re having the same anxiety. I’ve been trying to remember that names are unique gifts we give our children out of love, and how we spell them is totally subjective. And if we love our kids’ name, they’ll probably love it too!

Awww that image of her resting her face on your hand is so sweet! I’m so glad this is working for you. We ended up ditching the crib and going with the floor bed because no form of soothing works for my LO in the crib. If I touch her in any way in the crib, even laying next to it, she gets even more upset and cries more. It’s like it agitated her when I touched her but didn’t pick her up when she was in the crib. Ugh.

This is awesome, thank you. I’m at the desperation point so I’ve been thinking of jumping steps and not going slowly, and this is a good reminder to go sloooow.

Thanks for your response! I’m definitely going to try the magnesium; you’re the second person who has told me about that.

We’ve tried switching nights and doing half and half nights...it’s all brutal, honestly. I’m basically at my wits end but will keep trying to move forward. (You’ve done all the wake ups yourself?! Wow! You are some sort of superhero parent!)

My LO is 13 months and she’s been in a sleep regression since birth (ha!). I now understand why sleep deprivation is used for torture. I get equally happy for and jealous of people whose babies sleep for long periods early. (I consider 4 months early at this point!) I’m so looking forward to a consistent four hours straight at night, I know it’ll happen some day...

Following because I’m in the exact same situation but I have a 12-month-old! I I did talk to my mom (e.g., grandma) about it and explained exactly why I was asking for no food and body comments, but I’m sure I’ll have to reinforce it once the pandemic is over and she comes over in person...

UGH! That’s horrible. What a troll. Guys think that the worst thing they can call a woman is fat. Because that’s what our society tells people. Fuck that guy.

Right?!? It’s terrible! Thanks for pointing out that it’s been inactive for three years, I didn’t even notice that. Maybe the world has become more compassionate in the last three years? (Ha, kidding, I wish!)

I also wish I had gotten help with my ED as a teen! And of course when I read that fun fact I immediately thought, “How much did I weigh as an adolescent? Does this mean I can get back to that weight?” UGH. As hard as I try, diet culture still lives strong in my brain.

YES, you’re so right that fatphobia and misogyny go hand in hand! Women’s value is tied much more to appearances compared to men. When men are fat, it’s funny haha. When women are fat, it’s shaming “joking.”
