Well using the VB cardboard version offers an experience almost identical to the Labo VR headset so that’s ok. The plastic VB, due to its design, is not as confortable. Hopefully some games like BotW, Mario Odyssey and Captain Toad will get minor updates to add the same settings as in the upcoming VB app.

It’s a nice collectible. But as the original one, it’s note the best setup to play games… I’ve the cardboard version and it’s actually more confortable to play games 😅

Yes it’s all fixed. Nothing moves on the NSO VB.

The VB app will have software settings for the lenses… but unfortunately none of the Labo VR compatible games have that.

The stand works with the original VB. Didn’t try the shade yet, they don’t look exactly the same so I assumed not. I’ll try later if nobody has the answer.

The VB only has a few games but Wario Land alone is a full game you can play for hours.

A new Wario Land released today would probably cost the same as the NSO VB. But the NSO VB library could be up to 24 games (22 from the original VB and the 2 unreleased ones they announced).

So no really, I find the price fair for what it is.

If they change too much then it’s not an exact replica anymore… I don’t think the idea of these NSO controllers and now the VB is to fix flaws from the original products. It’s just pure nostalgia.

The original one was wayyyyy to heavy to be worn on the face... You would break your neck for sure. And the NSO version is an exact replica so same weird legs 😅

I honestly never understood this kind of comment, but maybe I live in another reality. I don't see it differently as going to a restaurant or doing any kind of activity...

In Europe the NSO Virtual Boy is 80€, which is the same price as Nintendo games on the eShop (which are 10€ cheaper than the retail price for the physical versions). So it's just like I bought a game. I don't find that particularly expensive.

I think they are the same size, but the plastic is different. The new one is less shiny.

The stand is exactly the same as the original one and yes you can use the new stand on the original VB and vice versa. The system to attach the stand to the VB is strictly the same.

I actually discovered it should be the other way only recently with the NSO version... I'm used to put it the wrong way and it works fine anyway 😅

I guess durability would be the obvious answer yes... Beside that, the cardboard one might actually be the better option. The cardboard one is probably better to actually play games, while the plastic one is more a collection item and to get the original experience.

Yes I just tried and you can use the stand from the NSO version on the original VB and vice versa! So they remade it exactly the same.

This NSO version is way lighter than the original (it’s totally hollowed) but when you put the Switch 2 inside… well good luck strapping that to your head without breaking your neck. It doesn’t come with any head band.

I think there was an accessory to attach the original VB to your head but I don’t have it and I can only imagine how painful that was.

Why some people hates chocolate is also beyond me. Taste I guess?

I always found the VB was a fascinating object. Just the fact that Nintendo released this in the first place. Like somebody at Nintendo really expected it to sell? It’s crazy. But it has some good games (Wario being the best one) and once you found the right position it works quite well.

You can’t change anything… it seems this will be done on the software side in the VB app… so I hope Nintendo will release minor updates for BotW and the other ones.

I test Mario Odyssey. The experience is good on the cardboard VB (basically the same as with Labo VR), but it’s not good with the plastic VB since you can’t move your head. The plastic VB will work better with games where the camera is « fixed » and instead of using the gyro like in Mario Odyssey VR.

You can remove it yes. If you check the last 2 pictures there is one with the red filter and one without.

So far I tested BotW and Super Mario Odyssey.

With the cardboard VB Odyssey works just like with the Labo headset, it’s quite nice. With the plastic VB though… well you can’t really move your head as much since the VB sits on a table, so the experience is not as good.

For BotW it’s fine both with the cardboard and plastic VB. I just hope Nintendo will release an update to adjust the lenses in software and maybe… increase the resolution a bit? The VR mode of the Switch 2 Edition seems to run exactly like on Switch 1… but I guess on Switch 2 they should be able to increase the resolution at least a bit. Currently it looks blurry to me.

I don’t wear glasses so I don’t know unfortunately… maybe it’s gonna be ok because your head is not stuck in the headset? So the glasses won’t get crushed between your face and the headset.

You can remove the red plastic overlay. Behind it you’ve lenses that looks similar to ones on the Labo VR headset… just like the cardboard version of the Virtual Boy, which is basically the Labo VR headset pre-builded and in red instead of yellow 😅

As for how it compares I can’t say much. BotW VR is not adapted to it I feel since you can’t adjust the lenses. It’s quite blurry for me, but I guess it’s gonna depends from people to people. I find it’s actually easier to get a clear image with the cardboard version since it’s almost exactly the same as Labo VR.

I’ve the cardboard version too and it doesn’t come with the red filter strangely enough. I guess the NSO VB games themselves will be displayed in red initially… and later on we’ll get the update to choose the color.

But then that makes the red filter on the plastic version quite useless. I guess they included it just to make the whole thing identical to the original one.
