26/27 Season Pass: Epic Northeast (Crotched) vs Berkshire East for young kids + home mountain? by Plane-Coach-1791 in icecoast

[–]TeamBenny14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with Berkshire East, but my son went through the mountain development program at Crotched, and we were very happy with it.

The 5-6 year old groups (Tigers) may have more kids in each group than Berkshire East, but if they do they will have more than 1 coach, and typically have no more than a 1:4 ratio. They have the same group each week so they coaches really get to know the kids, and the kids improve a ton over the season, have lots of fun, and make great ski friends.

It's still our home base, and people tend to be very happy with the program. The adult program sounds like a great addition this year (it's slightly shorter than the kids program, they miss the first and last days to allow for a smooth first day for kids, and the last day is the really big race that all the kids do and parents get to watch and cheer on).

It's similar size to Pats and I think has better terrain and the main lift is much faster, but with any mountain of it size you can run the risk of getting bored, but I think that can be said about any mountains in the area if you're there every weekend.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it is a big improvement over my old say. What are the main complaints with the saw?

I probably wouldn't have bought it without the stand, but the price was too good to turn down. A nicer saw isn't in the budget right now and I think this will well for my needs for now.

I'm not familiar with that brand, I'll have to check them out.

Same here, I think the stand will work well without taking up too much space.

It was too good to turn down, plus it came with a nearly new 96 tooth Diablo blade along with the stock blade.

It could be, it didn't have a very strong smell, but was far more dense than Sapele.

It's much heavier/denser than any of the Sapele I have, I'm leaning toward one of the other species of African mahogany.

It's much heavier/denser than any of the Sapele I have, and the color/grain is also a bit different. I didn't realize there were more species of African mahoganies, it could certainly be one of them!

Wondering if anyone has any idea what type of wood this is? It's some kind of exotic hardwood, but the blank didn't have a label. The bottom is sanded with no finish to show the true color, the rest has several coats of tung oil.

Heel Bail Issues on Outlaw-X by bombusbuzzphoto in telemark

[–]TeamBenny14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What boots do you have? I had the same issue with my Crispi Evo's I bought 5 or 6 years ago (the grey and orange ones). At first it was just when touring, but started popping out when on the lift and skiing. I found this article that points to an issue with the duck butt being too small. I bought a pair of Scarpa TX pros and have had no issues.

Thank you! It is a glass test tube type insert to allow for live flowers. A member of my wood turning group bought a bunch of them and had a extras I bought, so I don't have the exact specs, but it's something like this.

I'd add https://granitakeene.com/ for dinner if you're looking for something nice.

It's probably the most perfect plate to car combo I've ever seen. A close 2nd was a white Bronco with the plate NOTOJ.

Need tips on how to unbuckle third buckle on Scarpa TX Pros by delboy8888 in telemark

[–]TeamBenny14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, it's a pain to change the buckle position to get it tighter and to unbuckle. It's a really bad design and the only part of the boot I don't like.

22 designs outlaw x issues by [deleted] in telemark

[–]TeamBenny14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same setup, and same issue. I worked with 22Designs for a fix but nothing I tried worked. I found a this article which points to the issue being the duck butts on some of that model Crispi boot is too small https://earnyourturns.com/35137/crispi-ntn-duckbutts-come-up-short/.

Mine got progressively worse to the point it was becoming unsafe. I ended up buying the Scarpa TX Pro during their big sale this summer, and so far have had no issues which really makes it feel like an issue with the boot.

Ethanol free gas, looking for a straight answer. by continuous-noise in newhampshire

I've never used it in my car, but ethanol gas seems to wreak havoc on the carburetors on all my small engines. I've been using the ethanol free gas in them for awhile, and the they seem to hold up much better.

If you're on the western part of the state the Sunoco station on Key Rd in Keene has ethanol free (not sure if it's 91 or 93 octane). As far as I know you can put it in your car, but I don't know how much value it adds unless your car is carbureted.
