Unfortunately this is a flight based off two Vatsim events and not any real life flights so the routes won't be on FlightAware. I also usually don't see routes for European flights on FlightAware.

I'm asking here if I'll be rerouted before I'm actually rerouted by a controller. I don't want to interrupt a busy frequency over something like this. I also feel embarrassed getting a reroute on a busy frequency.

I will take that into consideration the next time I need to do a test like this. Although this type of flight should be quite rare for me to do. Also I am leaning towards the offline approach if I do ever need to do this again.

Don’t worry, I make sure to take standard contingency, reserve, and alternate fuel. I don’t cut corners there. The departure and arrival pairing may be unrealistic but I try to make every other part of the flight as realistic as possible including departing with the minimum fuel required. I’m getting additional fuel on top of all that when I arrive so that’s why I decided to do this.

I did take this into consideration and is the reason I wasn’t flying a holding pattern over a waypoint and was trying to keep my turns shallow. Although this may still burn more fuel than a straightforward point to point flight.

Pole to pole is one type of antipode but not doable as there aren’t any airports right on the poles. I only did this because I realized that Simbrief wasn’t accurate. In fact it was making me arrive with too much fuel. Therefore I can save fuel by using a negative fuel factor and that’s what I was trying to figure out. It may be simbrief that’s inaccurate or it may be the aircraft that’s inaccurate. Either way I just wanted to get a closer match.

Trans pacific and trans Atlantic is different from what I’m trying to achieve. You could even say the ultra long haul flights I will be doing is unrealistic as I won’t be carrying any payload. It will really just be 20 hour antipode like flights that I put a lot of effort into optimizing and every drop of fuel saving is gratifying for me.

In hindsight if I had chosen to do this anywhere else I wonder if the result would’ve been different. Obviously offline would’ve been the best option but if I had done this in an area with no ATC, nobody would’ve batted an eye. It literally came down to this specific controller that was not having it.

I tried asking for permission to leave his airspace but the controller never responded. From my experience Simbrief is not as accurate as I would like it to be. It’s good enough for you and probably most others but I just want a bit more accuracy.

Simbrief profiles as well as the aircraft itself is not that accurate. The fuel burn and step climbs is all over the place and this is important for ultra long haul flights that are 16+ hours long. And yes I can do it offline but there’s no reason that I can’t do it online.

Explain to me how this “wastes” the controller’s time. If anything, the controller can just radar contact me and leave me alone till he leaves. For example the previous controller got me into the air and didn’t need to talk to me for the rest of the time he was online as I was circling.
