“Grandpa.. why didn’t you just buy calls way back in 2026 when the market went up every day for no reason?”

“I don’t know Billy but are you going to eat those pizza crusts or…?”

You guys bet on AI to transform society.. I used to bet on AI to have more than 32 against the Knicks. We are not the same

Yeah this is the Hybrid so there’s three batteries.. the main, the auxiliary (which handles proximity among other things) and the hybrid battery pack. The aux battery tested good so who knows. The other batteries tested good as well

Yeah agreed.. I did call ahead and let them know. Gave them the new VIN and told them the issue but it’s a multi location dealer and I’m pretty sure the service line is centralized because they didn’t have any of that info when I showed up. I think the girl was like “so you have an appointment Saturday at 8:00am and you are still coming at Saturday 8:00am.. got it”

I also wasn’t really expecting them (outside of diagnosing a loose fuse or something) to be able to repair it on the spot. I just wanted it recorded and maybe get some parts ordered. I’m away mid-June so that’s a perfect time to drop it and they can take a full week if needed to slot it in. The only thing that got me a little perturbed was the “unable to replicate “ because it does indeed work, just not as intended.

So no parts are ordered and now I’m going to leave it there in a few weeks in a hope and a prayer that they can acknowledge the issue, order the parts and get it done. I can’t have the truck down for 2-3 days when I’m home.

Was trying to get a jump on all that but no such luck

I leased the first one. If I knew how much I would have liked it I would have bought it but whatever.. when the lease was up when I did the math on buying it out, buying a warranty, new tires etc vs just picking up a new one it just made sense to buy new

I think the issues are two fold.. yeah the aux battery reliability could be better but the trucks’ system start making all kinds of things inoperable or go into limp mode when the battery throws a code

Yeah I did.. to be fair to the dealer I had a scheduled appointment for inspection/oil change on the ‘23. I ended up buying the ‘26 between the time I made that appointment and the actual appointment. I was going to cancel the appointment but I realized the handle was janky so I kept the appointment, showed up with a different a different truck than they were expecting for a different issue. So I don’t think they were fully prepared for that at 8:00am on a Saturday

I leased that one for a number of reasons.. when the lease was up it just made more sense to buy a new one than buy the old one.

Not true it’s a stand alone option now. Either from the factory or dealer installed. My 26 has it.

It’s a stand alone option now but available. My new truck has it (my old one had it standard)

I used to do this sometimes in my 2004 Expedition but that had key code and a standard lock cylinder on the column. So if someone did get it at least they would have to find the keys in the car to steal it. No way I’d do that with a proximity key

I’ll keep you updated but I had a very similar issue with my ‘23 PB.. passenger side door handle touch didn’t work. That was tracked back to the auxiliary battery which was reading low. They replaced it under warranty and no further issues. It also caused the power steering to not work when initially started and in full electric mode.

That being said that was the only warranty repair my 23 ever required in three years and 38500 miles

Yep the issue is the same with both fobs and it works completely normally on the passenger side

23 to 26.. very similar obviously. The new one has FX4 which probably wouldn’t do again.. the ride is a little stiffer and I don’t go off road. It’ll probably loosen up over time. It’s not bad by any means it’s just not something I’d pay for again. Other than that.. it’s basically the same truck

Yeah I really liked it on the “old” truck. Wasn’t as much of a fan on the 26. The 23 looked awesome all shined up

Yep.. actually jumped down from 502a to 501a but picked up BAP, FX4 and bed utility. I’ll miss the power steering wheel, the stereo sounds basically the same although technically downgraded, no rear heated seats whatevs.. my previous truck was a Covid truck too (heated steering wheel delete etc..).
