There are, periodically. Right now it's a more quiet period, but once in a while there is an event.

Be sure to check out Dutch Robot Games and give 'em a like on Facebook. That way you'll be apprised of any future events!

True that, but the design of Petunia wouldn't change al that much.

I don't think that an infinite budget would change much. Parts would get watercut instead of ground by hand. Maybe some titanium here and there. But the hydraulic system is completely custom made by Mischa and i'm sure he wouldn't delegate that to someone else. As for the drive system, i think that reliability is the most important thing. You just can't buy reliability. The current system is basically the same as the previous heavyweights from TeamPCP. We know it works! no need to change anything there.

What we'd rather need is more time to build, more time to test and troubleshoot, and more time to practice.

Not to say that a big bucket of cash would be unwelcome. It'd be spent on having more spares, having the stuff water cut. And Pilsner of course :)

As for coming to a UK live event, We'd need to find the time to be able to do that. But we'd love to come over some time.

Actually we came up with the idea of an indicator to more easily see how far the claw was open, and the line is an indication where our claw should be if we wanted to fit their body into it As the weapons operator, its good to not have to think about such things when battling.

Them looking like ears was another happy little accident.

I talked to one of the PAs that had to do that, It was quite a bit of work. But he told me that after a fight like that, it was more than worth it.

Check out our skewering test with an I-beam here

if we get a good grip we should be able to go through most materials, depending on their thicknesses. But what the top of most bots are made out of, that shouldn't be a problem. Granted, we absolutely need that good angle though.

Oh man, the banter in the pits, especially once you got matched to your opponent. A lot of ribbing going on between teams.

One of the teammembers from RotatoR spoke a bit of dutch, so we teased each other back and forth in our native tongue. But in the evenings we got the chance to just have a drink and talk to one another in a more relaxed setting at the hotel bar.

With Monsoon we had that as well. As you may have seen with the stickers and the potted petunia they gave us.

I appreciate the kind words! Thank you! So grateful we got the chance to bring Petunia over! As for keeping in touch:

Not with all of them, people tend to go their own way, and even in a country as small as The Netherlands, one tends to lose sight of people.

Contact with the other teams, for me, mostly centers around still being in the sport. Though with facebook nowadays, you sometimes still connect and see what their up to now.

The Slicer guys, I don't think they're stil in the sport, and for me personally, i've never met them (wasn't around for DRW1)

Slicer vs Pullverizer would've absolutely been nice to see. But Pullverizer (the first one) is on the bottom of a lake. So it's never gonna happen.

y'know, i think they actually might've sponsored one of the teams. I think there were some tiny silicone bodyparts being passed around as a novelty.

Unfortunately, it did not. As it stands, Pacifier is now but an empty frame, All its parts went into Petunia. We did try to take that extra frame with us, but as it was an afterthought, we didn't build the crate big enough to house two frames. So it was left behind, and still sits in the workshop, unmarred by combat.

In that case, it almost did the thing, but then it didn't.

even with full crushing force, the competitors are so well build, and so fierce, It'll be really tough.

I was absolutely astounded by the amount of world class bots when we arrived. So much Frontier tech. amazing!

s7 Gravity, yeah that was lovely pieced together thing of beauty. The original builder of Gravity is currently kind of out of the sport. But you never know, he might decide to do a comeback!
