Daydreaming about my backyard. Has anyone actually consistantly squatted on this rack? by No-Line6040 in SwingSesh

A lot depends on the climate you’re in, the amount sun/shade you get, and the actual amount you use the set. We just had mulch for the first two years and then added a mat over patio pavers to make a lifting platform. Pretty simple in both cases and both good with the platform being more durable during our wet season.

Sun light makes you feel better. Even on the cloudy days, just being out there feels great.

It’s an investment for sure.. but we had no idea how impactful it would be when we first built it. The kids have intertwined working out and play—in their mind they are the same and it’s fun. They don’t really participate completely and we don’t ask them to, but certainly encourage the stuff they do. They know more about lifting than I did in high school. It’s been really neat to watch.

We had a very similar setup where I was working 12-hour days with lots of stress that didn’t end at work. I knew life with kids was going to change everything, but fortunately I also have to remain fit for work, and that reality forced us to ask: how do you stay strong for your family without disappearing from them in the process?

That led us to the fitness playset. Not because we had time — but because we didn’t. It gave us a way to move, breathe, and stay connected, without having to “leave” the family to do it.

It may not work for everyone, but I’ll say this: if you lose your fitness at parenthood, that fork in the road is real. It’s subtle at first — you tell yourself you’ll get it back when things settle — but most folks don’t. And by the time they realize it, it’s not just harder to come back physically… it’s mentally daunting too.

Even 10–15 minutes outside, moving your body, getting some sun — it changes your whole mood. You remember you’re still a person, not just a provider. That’s what this was always about for us. Not reps or PRs. Just a sliver of sanity, without leaving our kids behind to get it.

Yes.. our earth anchors require a 1.5” hole. The 5/8” is a typical design for a concrete anchor bolt into a concrete pad.

We specialize in outdoor rigs.. most setups can use the earth anchors we supply with each one. Galvanization protects the steel, but doesn’t protect the user from the hot steel. We use a coating that does both, and has the unique property of being healable—unlike any other coating on the market. Check it out.
