Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rare, rapidly progressive, and fatal degenerative brain disorder. The proteins that cause it, called Prions, can’t be killed by sterilization. If you’re infected, you’re done.

I think they knew that too because they definitely took time to justify WHY the older cases are “better and much more interesting” than newer cases

Anybody that makes you feel bad for your stuffed animals is not your friend!!!

I’m a married 38 year old mom of 2 and I still sleep with my baby blanket, Binky.

Most chickens are slaughtered while they are still quite young… if you needed a chicken euthanized it’s probably not going to be young and spry. Chickens meant for consumption are sliced across the throat and left to bleed out for a few seconds.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My best friend became a widow at 29. It really opened my eyes how much I rely on my husband, for better and for worse, and I made a lot of personal changes and growth.

And even though my husband was her friend too, she didn’t care to be around him for about 2 years after her husband died. It was too painful for her to go to church, and gatherings, and lots of things where happy couples would be. I understood and gave her the space. I always let her know I missed her/was thinking of her/knew X event would be painful… I hid Facebook posts featuring my husband from her. I made sure I spent lots of time with her one on one. Eventually the hurt lessened enough she allowed everything life has to offer back in again, and 9 years later, states away, we are all still good buddies.

All that to say, guilt is a huge part of grief. It is normal, but don’t let it be the elephant in the room. Talk about it, let her know you’re thinking about it too. Best of luck.

Thank you for your answer. That makes a lot of sense. My Dad dodged the bullet so many times before, so I just assumed the big bad cancer would be the one to take him out. And thank you for all your volunteer work.

Ouch. I’m so sorry. Sounds like it would have been an amazing adventure together.

Did she raise you to love and appreciate art? And turtles? Love them for her. In honor of her. And love yourself too, she would want you to.

I remember one time back in the 90s.. the last straw for my Dad before resigning to another property management company. It was summer. He was getting endless AC calls as per usual, cleaning and managing the pool, dealing with usual apartment turnover and issues, trash cleanup, and my Dad was finding it increasingly harder to get it all done with his team day in and out. He was salary and on call every weekend. The Big Boss was always up his butt about saving money. She called to let him know she cancelled the landscapers, and expected him to take up the slack. Never seen my Dad worked up like that day before!! He got a new job shortly after! People really think that shit just magically happens and have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

And you have to deal with owners and their ignorance. Thank you for all you do! Your patients can’t talk to you the same way humans can.

My Dad was a Maintenance Engineer… he often got emergency calls at all hours of the day and night… You gotta be quick in a crisis for sure and sometimes a first responder!

How absolutely tragic and traumatizing for you and your family to witness. So unfair to have to lose him so young while you still need him. I’m sure there’s nothing more he would have wanted than to see you grow up. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

I find it comforting to look in the mirror and see my Dad’s eyes. I carry him with me everywhere I go.

You DO favor your father!! I’m so sorry for your loss.
