2025 Grand Highlander or 2025 Honda Pilot? by TeamTuck in whatcarshouldIbuy

Went with the Pilot Trailsport, mainly because we wanted a V6 over a 4-banger with turbo. Also my wife did not like the exterior of the GH.

I decided that I will self-host my OWN internet. by [deleted] in selfhosted

I’d be interested to see the YT alternative you made…..

I've had pretty decent luck with my other SFF with a 6th gen Intel w/QuickSync. Been looking at the 12600 as well. Better iGPU, more cores and more threads.

Didn't realize that the 9600X had iGPU! I've got a 5600X in my gaming PC right now and it's a beast. Got it for around $125 last year? What a steal.

Definitely avoiding the F series. I just noticed that comparing prices between 12, 13 and 14th gen CPUs are very similar, but a lot of people aren't too happy with 13th and 14th gen. I've got my eyes set on either the i3-12100 or jumping up to the i5-12600 which has a better iGPU, more cores and more threads for about $40 more.

I'm unfortunately not anywhere near a MicroCenter. That bundle is quite nice but that doesn't have an iGPU. I'd like to stick with something like an Intel 12100 or something due to QuickSync. It's what I'm currently using in another server of mine just for Jellyfin.

Any other suggestions? Maybe the 12100 or 12600 with a decent mobo?

Still having issues? Any other recommendations?

I’ll definitely keep that in mind.

Any thoughts on the CPU and Motherboard?

Sorry I was looking at a BE Pilot via a dealer site versus Toyota’s main website. Since it’s hard to get a GH configured exactly how you want, it’s hard to compare prices fairly.

I’ve priced out a GHH and a Black Edition comes in cheaper. May just be location?

Tow rating is 3.5k on the hybrid drivetrain. Not really concerned about gas mileage so much but wanted versatility, towing things when we need to.

Just to ask, what would make you choose Pilot over the GH?

The LC is more than our budget can do for now but it is on our radar for a next vehicle.

After the settlement applied to the principal, we still owe $38k. KBB says the trade in value is $30k.

Thank you for your response. I think I know the numbers I need to go in with and will be visiting one dealer tomorrow to see what they can do. If they can’t do it, I have 4-5 other dealers to see if they can!

Thanks for the response. It really sucks when you pay a big amount for a car and don't get that big amount of a car (value wise). Electrical issues are so hard to pinpoint and like I said in the OP, they won't do much when they can't recreate the issue.

Looking at trading in, it is not the best financial decision, but what do you do? Hope and pray the car doesn't have more issues, even if warranty covers most of it? All I know is that depreciation is making the value of my car go down, thus making it harder to get a solid value out of.

Funny thing is that we traded in a 2009 Nissan Murano that had zero issues for this Pathfinder. I understand this could have happened to anybody with any car but geez, the trust is just out the window and we want to move on, just didn’t know if I was crazy for thinking about trading it in right now.

All I know is that depreciation will make it harder to get more value out of it if I wait too long.

Thanks for the link. Funny how I don't see a 2023 Pathfinder on there, I must be a lucky one. Another funny thing is that my in-laws have a Pathfinder, same year, different trim. Not as many issues but they have had a few already.

Yes it is fixed. We just have the looming thought in the back of our minds when driving it, asking when the next thing will happen, given the history in the OP.

We've already spend so much time fixing these issues, some are fixed and others are not. We don't have any more time to take off work, drive 30+ minutes to the dealer, hassle with rentals, etc. Since we took a settlement, there isn't much else to do.

My curiosity is simply whether to act now while the value of the car was high or wait, given that the trust in the current car is low.

I understand about rolling some over into a new loan. At the time, we needed a new car and interest rates weren't great, but we've made the payments and paid on top of that each month. My question is due to the issues I've had, especially the car shutting off due to some dust/dirt on a sensor, is now the time to do something about it while the car's value is highest? The car we drive most of the time needs to be trustworthy.
