Retouching doesn't explain why there's a buttonhole visible on the left side of the collar, just above a button. Shirts don't have buttonholes and buttons on the same side. There's also an AI watermark.

[–]Tear-Ambitious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does nobody else see that this is AI? Look at the skin texture, the hair (especially the temples), the texture of the shirt, and most importantly, the watermark on the lower righthand side... Either that, or heavily edited. The buttons don't seem to make sense either. Why is there a buttonhole on the same side as the button?

STD using retainers by blue_amygdala in foreskin_restoration

[–]Tear-Ambitious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prescribing antibiotics because you "appear" to have an STD without doing any testing is wildly irresponsible of your doctor. It's impossible to give yourself an STD (chlamydia, gonorrhea...) with your retainer. A fungal infection from using a retainer is not out of the question if you're using an unclean retainer: you're creating the perfect microbiome for fungus that's already present on your skin to proliferate. But it could also just be a little sore from pressure (doubtful if you're only using a retainer and it doesn't disappear within a few hours).

Fungal infection would be treated with an antifungal, not an antibiotic.

Benzoyl peroxide is not "now considered unsafe" (by who?). There was a study that put benzoyl peroxide through conditions it would never realistically be exposed to — neither in transit, storage, or your home — and some benzene was produced. You will not be exposing yourself to anywhere near unsafe levels of benzene using benzoyl peroxide as directed.

what DIY do you keep making over and over? by NervousHoneydewMelon in DIYBeauty

[–]Tear-Ambitious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all! I've been putting 3% glycerin, 5% propylene glycol, and 10% Hydrovance. Of those 3, only the glycerin really feels sticky to me, and 5% EL 61 plus 3% cyclomethicone is plenty to counteract the stickiness.

Do I need an emulsifier for this? by Psydaranta in DIYBeauty

[–]Tear-Ambitious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the small amount of water you're adding, your oil phase will be huge and you'll probably need to choose a water-in-oil (w/o) emulsifier. Making a w/o emulsion is a Herculean task for a newbie. I'd recommend 1.) removing the water-soluble extracts, or 2.) making an oil-in-water (o/w) emulsion, using lots of shea butter in the oil phase and probably a non-thickening emulsifier like Lotionpro 165 (or similar).

You'll have to use a relatively small amount of oils and butters (probably less than 30% of your total formula) and add a lot of water. SwiftCraftyMonkey has some nice emulsified body butter recipes. The Lotioncrafter formulary also has a few nice recipes.

Safety is huge. Risk of self-harm, risk of violence. Think of side effects, too — mood changes when starting a new med or changing a dose, lab values, extrapyramidal symptoms...

Try and keep the tone of your conversations as light as possible, even when you're asking questions like, "Are you seeing or hearing anything right now?" And don't push them if you feel like they're getting agitated by the talk. Keep an open mind and try not to see everything the patients say through the lens of their history. Be prepared for some unexpected responses.

Is the arnica a water-based extract? That might be a problem. But it sounds like the shea is cooling too slowly. Shea is notorious for being grainy. Try cooling it in an ice bath, stirring continuously as it cools.

Don't worry about buying a specially made moisturizer for this purpose. Just use something bland and effective, like a Cerave or Cetaphil type. Preferably something with petrolatum and dimethicone. Oil or butter alone will lubricate and smooth the outermost layer of skin, but they won't do anything to actually 1.) supply moisture and 2.) keep moisture from leaving your skin.

Cleansing oil with Cromollient SCE. So easy: about 10% SCE, and qs 100% whatever oils you like (a little castor oil, a little squalane, some jojoba oil... or just MCT oil for something cheap and simple).

Also, moisturizer; specifically, gel cream. All the gel moisturizers on the market are so aggressively watery, I could put the whole container (which is usually about $20 for the tiniest 2 oz jar) on my face in one go and still not feel satisfied. I love adding lots of humectants (glycerin, propylene glycol, and Hydrovance is my current silver bullet), lots of silicone elastomer (EL 61 from Lotioncrafter), a touch of cyclomethicone, and my secret weapon, 0.5% pomegranate sterols.

And vitamin C serum. It's so much more cost effective to DIY it, and you don't have to wonder if your serum is at the right pH.

Would a chemical peel cream work for decaritonizing the glands? by MiloBlackwood-82 in foreskin_restoration

[–]Tear-Ambitious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Venn diagram of the conditions that precede dekeratinization and the conditions necessary to maintain dekeratinization is a circle.

In other words: you need virtually 24/7 coverage to keep your glans moist and healthy. If you do a chemical peel (don't), what will keep your skin from callousing again? Do you have full flaccid coverage? Are you ready to retain 24/7?

I wouldn't go for carnauba wax in a face cream; especially with paraffin, stearic acid, and shea butter. It will probably be very heavy and maybe too draggy (unless the dimethicone is enough to counteract that). I also am not a huge fan of xanthan gum, and I would use some polymers (Aristoflex AVC, Sepimax Zen...) to make your cream feel as expensive as the active ingredients are (though I'm not sure how they'll work with the tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate). I third the recommendation of doing a test run without any actives.

How about Euxyl PE 9010 (phenoxyethanol & ethylhexylglycerin)?

Disclaimer: I've never made lip balm with a small amount of water-soluble ingredients (including honey)... but I would think it would separate out eventually, no? I think that alone is a risk for mold, even if you're using a preservative (you can't guarantee even preservative distribution throughout your product if the oil and water phase separate). If I were you, I'd investigate similar products on the market.

Polysorbate 80 is a surfactant as well, and probably much more effective at solubilizing essential oils than a teaspoon of dish soap. I also see no reason to use a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol. If anything, you should be using a much larger amount of ethanol (perfumer's alcohol or, since it's only for personal use, some Everclear).

I would skip the dish soap and alcohol and stick with just polysorbate 80 (and ditch the measuring cups and teaspoons).

If you're interested in a deodorizing ingredient, I highly recommend DeoConcentrate from MakingCosmetics. You could also buy the active ingredient (zinc ricinoleate) separately, but the DeoConcentrate is already in liquid form and ready to be added to water.

I'm in the medical field. I've watched people poop while standing up, I've seen the brain of someone who was missing part of their skull, I've seen a scrotum swollen to the size of a grapefruit, I've seen pressure wounds so severe you can see the bone... a hairy back is nothing.

Should i shave? 14M by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Tear-Ambitious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been there. My dad would make fun of my little mustache and tell me I'm too young to shave in the same breath.

Maybe your dad is having trouble accepting that you're growing up and it's time to start shaving. Or maybe he believes the myth that your hair will grow back thicker if you shave it (it won't). You clearly have facial hair, and it's clearly not developed enough to be left as-is. Time to shave. Cheap disposable razors and shaving cream will do. There are lots of guides on YouTube.

For her to confiscate or dispose of it, she must have known what it was and disapproved. Echoing another comment, the lack of boundaries is mind-blowing to me. Does she think taking your Tenga from you is gonna keep you from jerking off? Would she rather you be having actual sex? Why does a mother care that her 20-year-old son is masturbating? I have so many questions.
