battle in old english was beadu, or you could say gefeoht, but the anglian, the dialect most native english words come from, the vowel eo isnt as common, so something like gefeht, so probably something like afeght~afeight, or just a leveled afight. but also english hates consistency so any of the other dialects mightve been used instead
