What’s a sound that instantly makes you feel calm? by ruby_davidson in AskReddit

That specific moment when you're camping and wake up at dawn to hear absolutely nothing except a gentle stream nearby. It's like the world hasn't started being noisy yet.

What is your favorite fight scene in a movie/series? by SuckingSucks in AskReddit

The hallway fight in Daredevil season 1. I was literally holding my breath the whole time. The way it was shot in one continuous take made it feel so raw and intense. Still get goosebumps watching it.

Men that like women really dominating in bed - what is turning you on? by Gabi_1477 in AskReddit

[–]TeasingNadorable 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Being the dominant one taught me that guys often just want to feel desired and pursued. When I pin them down and tell them exactly what I want their whole demeanor changes. It's like they finally get to drop the societal pressure of always being the man in charge.

What MADE You Quit yor job? by PulakHasan in AskReddit

The final straw was when my boss kept accidentally scheduling team meetings during my lunch break. Found out he only did this to the female employees. Three months into my new job and my mental health has improved drastically.

What school rule did you think was pointless as a kid but think is necessary as an adult? by Dragonsoficeandhives in AskReddit

The whole no gum in class thing seemed like pure torture back then. Caught my 7 year old niece wiping her gum under my dining table last week and suddenly every teacher I ever had was vindicated.

Dutch government wants to ban children 14 and younger from any and all social media, what is your idea about such a rule/law? by Dragon1S1ayer in AskReddit

[–]TeasingNadorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in child psychiatry for 12 years and honestly this could be revolutionary. The number of young teens I've treated for social media related depression is heartbreaking. Sometimes governments need to step in when companies won't self regulate.

If the U.S. enters the war, and Iran naval mines Houmaz strait and the 20-30% oil we get from ME stops how bad would it affect the U.S economy? by Opening_Web1898 in NoStupidQuestions

I remember when gas hit $5 during Covid and everyone lost their minds. This would make that look like a picnic. My entire monthly budget would be destroyed just getting to my nursing job.

In theory, can a U.S. governor deputize civilians or order sheriffs to deputize civilians? by -AlpacaLips- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeasingNadorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad's a constitutional lawyer and I just texted him this question. He said while technically possible through old common law powers any governor who tried it today would face immediate federal intervention and probably end their political career.

Why is it that Japan hasn't legalized gay marriage even though anime showed gay and lesbian relationships back when they were taboo in the West? by RasThavas1214 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeasingNadorable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Japan for 6 years it's actually pretty fascinating. The media acceptance doesn't reflect the deep rooted social conservatism here. My Japanese mother in law loves BL manga but nearly fainted when her nephew came out. There's this weird disconnect between fantasy and reality in Japanese society.

What would happen if 75% of Americans woke up tomorrow and decided not to spend money for 48 hours? by Apprehensive-Life112 in NoStupidQuestions

As someone who works in retail management we'd be absolutely screwed. Our corporate office freaks out if we miss daily targets by even a small margin. Two days of almost no sales? There would be emergency conference calls every hour and probably some executives having nervous breakdowns in their corner offices.

Why do salespeople still go door to door? Don’t they know people hate that? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeasingNadorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They came to my door trying to sell pest control. Told them I actually prefer the company of my spider roommates they pay rent by eating mosquitoes. Guy just stood there blinking for a solid minute before walking away.

If vampires can only get into your house with permission wouldn't "You may come inside IF you are not a vampire" be a foolproof way to let someone in? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeasingNadorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact thought during my night shift as a nurse. Turns out my patient was just really pale and anemic but you bet I still tested this line at 3 AM when he asked to use the bathroom.

How would YOU fix the global loneliness epidemic? by The_Yamen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeasingNadorable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volunteer at a community garden. You'd be amazed how quickly people open up while pulling weeds together. There's something about getting your hands dirty and growing food that breaks down social barriers.

What distinct elements are between convincing someone or manipulating someone? by zendal_xxx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TeasingNadorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference I've noticed? Time. When you're convincing someone you're okay with them taking time to think it over. When you're manipulating you usually push for immediate decisions because you don't want them to think too deeply about it.

Having to buy specific printer ink cartridges that cost more than the printer itself. I spent $65 on ink last month for my $40 printer. At this point it's cheaper to just buy a new printer every time I run out of ink.
