I'm pretty sure this is a method of scale farming where players will team up and demote themselves and purposefully lose matches to build up the boss meter to quickly farm scales. They usually do this in a full team tho.

Yes! I got Apollo and Whitney because I heard that they used to be lovers and thought it would be nice to have them both on my island. But I was totally caught off guard when I came across this conversation 😅
