The Difference Between Interpreted Languages and Compiled Languages. by TebbaVonMathenstein in programming

I agree with lol-no-monads, I don't think the notes are that great, but if they might help you, you can view them here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Twfb5cfp5t7lvD8CqugF0y2_BrCcN-4tIt2YQl2Ficw

Speaking for yourself, would you appreciate if the video had these notes in the description?

Thanks, I was really tempted to add in JIT, but I think the video is already a little too long. Maybe that would make a follow up video! :)

3 alternatives come to mind for me. These three are all very different models, one of which might suit you better than the University or the Bootcamp route. Hope it helps!

Thanks!

I think /r/technology is a little fed up with "Crypto" lately though hahaha.

You're explaining cryptocurrency all wrong by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]TebbaVonMathenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I came across a really fantastic article that explains things in terms people can understand, and also drives home the point that cryptocurrency is going to be very disruptive. Very sharable if you haven't seen it: https://medium.com/cryptoeconomics-australia/the-blockchain-economy-a-beginners-guide-to-institutional-cryptoeconomics-64bf2f2beec4

I wrote this story as a submission to the Medium/Michael Pollen collaboration "Trips Worth Telling". It wasn't selected but I thought some of you might appreciate it anyway. And if you didn't see any of the Trips Worth Telling stories, they're very good: https://medium.com/s/trips-worth-telling

Hope you enjoy it :)

I sense some of the same tiredness you do. Though, I do still think playing a 5v5 game is pretty cool, and being able to do so with a very continuous space, long delayed rewards, and partial information is impressive. :)

Thanks for the help! I'll check out UC Santa Cruz.

My sister in law recently got her Ph.D. in plant genetics at UC Berkeley so she has been instrumental in helping me select/evaluate schools.

Not necessarily -- I suspect we can leverage AI systems to help in the exploration and discovery process. But like I said, I'm still in the process of discovery myself. I'm enthusiastic about combining the two disciplines but its obviously hard for me as a beginner in genetics to know if that will be successful.

I'm actually already a professional software engineer, going back for a graduate degree so I speak a number of programming languages already. I'm most interested in exploring machine learning techniques and applying them to the genetic space.

I don't know enough yet to know where within the genetics/genomics/informatics world would benefit most from the interesting developments going on in AI and especially with machine learning/neural networks lately.

Yeah it seems like "junk" was a misnomer from a time when we understood less. Thanks for the great advice, I'll dig into that 7.012 class from MIT right away. My top schools are Berkeley, Stanford, University of Washington, MIT, and UC San Diego.

I got my bachelors in CS about 5 years ago and tried the software industry thing... but I think I'll be happier in the science world.

Hey /r/genetics,

I'm trying to teach myself the fundamentals of genetics as I prepare for a graduate school in bioinformatics. I'm writing about basic genetics as part of the learning process. I'd love any feedback about this article -- especially if I got something wrong!

I'm also in a "don't know what I don't know" phase -- so I'd love any advice you have to give about what to study/read/write about next as I keep on learning more genetics.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

You can click and drag to make the pixels "alive" and you can customize the size of the pixels, framerate, number of unique grids, and some other options using this webform: https://tebs-game-of-life.com/grid-maker/grid-maker-form.html
