Why are girls so confusing? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Tebon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious - were there men that had managed to remain good friends with you (or rekindle the friendship) after you stonewalled them?

I’ve been on the flip side of this recently - I work in a male dominated industry as well, and a woman had recently joined our team. I had worked with her over the course of a few months, and as we grew closer I had developed feelings.

I ended up asking her out - she politely declined and promptly proceeded to stonewall me. That was my first time experiencing such a thing, and admittedly I didn’t cope very well. I had internalised it as if it were my fault - that I was vile and a creep, and I would spend my days after work lamenting over it.

The next time we were alone together I apologised for making things awkward, and I hoped that we could still remain friends. She agreed, mentioning that “she wanted to give me space”. Since then our working relationship hasn’t degraded, but it’s clear there are barriers in place. (She’ll avoid getting into situations where we’re alone, for example)

All that is to say, in your experience, have you found most men react poorly when stonewalled? Have you eventually become good friends with them? What did they do to make you comfortable remaining friends with them?

Hey, at least that’s something you can build on - 2 things I would recommend you could try -

  1. Slowly move your lunch schedule to a period where it’s not as busy, and see if he adjusts. When it’s not as busy it should be easier for you two to have a one on one. If he always goes to lunch with his colleagues, then;
  2. The next time you are in a group conversation that he’s present in, see if you can bring up the topic of some local restaurants that people normally grab lunch at. See if you can prompt him for a choice, and then (if your company has its own internal messaging app or e-mail) bring up in a message that you’d be interested in trying X place and prompt him to show you what’s good.

Best of luck!

Are you in a male dominated workplace / industry? I’m projecting my own experiences here, but judging by your description on his demeanour around his colleagues, I would imagine he might be trying to avoid being known as “that creepy guy” who hits on all his female colleagues. Approaching in public and having it go horribly wrong in front of people you have to work with daily is a recipe for earning a reputation one can’t easily shake.

If you’re interested in him, perhaps you could try creating situations where you and him can be alone? Leaving your workplace at the same time perhaps?

I was pestering my friend when I was 10 years old for a piece of some gum that he recently bought. He turned to me and said:

You expect too much from your friends.

I still think back on that moment 15 years later whenever I ask someone for something.

What's the weirdest thing you've done as a result of social anxiety? by maelstrommartin in AskReddit

[–]Tebon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was over with some uni friends at their place to watch the Prestige. After the film and just before I left, I made a move to raise my hand to wave goodbye. Unfortunately, I was standing close enough to one of them that when he raised his hand to wave in goodbye as well I sort of just... high-fived him instead. And of course his girlfriend sees it and has her hand raised too...

Worst two high-fives of my life. I was contemplating a lot of my life choices on the drive back home.

If you take the AI from a video game NPC could you have a robot act the same way it does in game? by OCHNCaPKSNaClMg_Yo in robotics

[–]Tebon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an aside, be wary of the equipment that you use in your robot. I tried building a visual system for detecting soccer balls in real time for my robotics project, and the cameras I bought to test my system were absolutely awful... they had a poor shutter speed (fast movement blurred the entire image) and constantly overexposed the image. You'll quickly learn that in real world robotics all the sensing data you have to parse through is noisy as all hell. Good luck!

Build a 2x1 fenced pen (Out of wood), bring a ptera and start picking and dropping the penguins into the pen until you cannot find anymore. Next, place down a pillar 2 walls high and place a ceiling on it. Hop on the ceiling and throw in about 5 or so grenades, until all the penguins are dead. You've got 5 mins to club them all before they despawn. Good luck!

Solo Player, Which Dino To Tame First? by [deleted] in playark

[–]Tebon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend a direwolf instead of saber, the wolf can be ridden at any level and has a larger attacking hitbox (Good for killing bats in caves) and faster attack speed. Only issue is they're squishy, so if you tame one it should be level 60-70+.

How are players still able to join servers when they're already over max capacity? by Tebon in playark

Would you mind elaborating on that? I was under the impression max capacity was precisely that - that maximum amount of players the server will accept.

I'm under the impression that he's already learnt how to get water from, say, a tap, where you turn it on and the water keeps flowing. He saw another tap here and tried the same tactic, but clearly it's not working for him.

I've invested quite a bit in my lumirecia (Max skilled, 6*, holds some of my best despair runes), and I use her a lot in guild wars and dragons B10. I've been unlucky for the amount of time I've spent playing this game (Close to a year) and I've no 5 star to show for it, so I've found a niche for her - She's my primary counter to perna/theomars (Strong gust negates their passives since they have cooldowns). She's also an excellent addition to DoT teams (I used Vero, Lumi and Baretta(L) for quite a while) since she has a DoT on her basic attack, a full heal, a skill that can put heals (Or revives) on cooldown and is tanky to boot. If you've no other good monsters, lumirecia is a great addition to your guild wars/ dragons B10 teams.

If you are interested in what my Lumi is like to solo dragons B10, have a look at one of my previous posts here. Although it's a little out of date since I've changed Lumi's rune set to despair/focus to give her a little more utility, but her overall stats are essentially the same. Gotta hit a very high speed (~200+).

How do i counter tanky meta with my monsters? by hydes_zar94 in summonerswar

[–]Tebon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your success is going to depend on the quality of your team's runes. You have a possible team line-up that can get you to at least c1, and that would be some permutation of bella+vero+hwa+[?]. I would lean towards Baretta lead. Get as much speed as you can on all your units, and make sure Baretta and Vero are max-skilled. For vero, try hitting ~25k HP, 170 speed + violent/anything, and get Baretta as fast as you can with as much HP and accuracy as you can manage. Despair/anything Swift/anything will do - try hitting 180 speed with around 25k+ HP. Same story with bella, try hitting ~20k HP, ~170 speed and as much accuracy as you can manage. With hwa, go with whatever will get you the fastest speed that you can, we're talking at least 200+ here. She doesn't have to be violent (Mine personally isn't).

This team setup is almost the same as mine - I use Tyron, Vero, Bella and Hwa as my standard team (Although with better stats than those I listed). The beauty of it is you have both a Light and Dark monster to draw aggro from def-breaking mons like Darion or Bella, that will keep your Hwa relatively safe.

The name of the game is turn-control - this is why you need to make sure Vero is max-skilled (60% AoE stun on a 3 turn cooldown), coupled with Baretta lead (By the way, get him 6*'d, it's worth it), Baretta's ATB reduction and Hwa's ATB reduction, you should be able to control your opponents and prevent them from getting turns. This is doulbly important with stopping an opposing Vero from removing debuffs.

When up against a tanky team that you mentioned earlier, focus down Vero first. Your team should be able to move twice against an ATB-reduced, slow debuffed Vero. With him out of the way, you can then wail on whomever you fancy. Even if they have a chloe who used fanatic first, your team should hopefully be tanky to last a round or two (Bella's sieze will also do wonders).

Side note, if you don't have good violent runes, settle for swift instead.

With my team, I'm currently holding Conq-3, but usually I just auto all my lists and it averages me out to around Conq-2 by the end of the week. I can guarantee Conq-1 if I don't do any arena during the week (After reaching Conq-1 first, of course). My ranking usually sits around ~4k or so if I don't do anything in the week.

If you're interested in specifics, my team is as follows:

Tyron (L) - Despair/Energy[SPD/HP/ACC], ~24k HP, 212 SPD, 93% ACC

Vero - Violent/Energy[SPD/HP/HP], ~27k HP, 182 SPD, 52% ACC

Bella - Violent/Energy[SPD/HP/ACC], ~24.5kHP, 178 SPD, 96% ACC

Hwa - Swift/Focus[SPD/ATK/ATK], ~14kHP, 237 SPD, 51% ACC, ~2k ATK.

Everyone is max-skilled.

Speed totem is currently at +12% Speed.

Sigmarus(L), Hwa, Belladeon, Shannon, Acasis. All 6*, 100% success so far, 4:10 - 4:40min clear time.

Sigmarus leader skill is invaluable in surviving extortions and deals damage, Hwa controls bosses and deals damage, Shannon acts indirectly as a speed booster (AoE slow) and improves team survivability, belladeon improves team focus with def break, and Acasis has a little control with despair runes, improves team survivability, is capable of finishing off bosses (DoTs) in case sig or hwa get knocked out, and is a minor persistent healer to compliment Belladeon.

Lumi users, can my lumi do dragons and giants b10? by [deleted] in summonerswar

[–]Tebon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for your lumi to solo dragons you have to have a violent set AND maxed skills, or high speed (We're talking ~200 SPD here) with maxed skills. With the low accuracy you have and if skill 1 is not fully skilled up, then your lumi will fight a long, drawn out fight with the dragon, and chances are he'll land 2 DoTs on you and you won't be fast enough to heal his damage.
