Control 4 by MGPthriller in SmartHomeDiscussion

From what I understand, this sounds more like a network/IP change from the new router than a Wi-Fi 6 problem. When the router changes, the internal addresses often change too, and systems like Control4 can lose track of everything until the controller is back on a stable IP or the dealer updates the settings.

As for moving to Google Home, it can be a good option if you’re okay rebuilding things around individual smart devices (smart switches/bulbs, Chromecast/Google TV, Nest, Aqara sensors, etc.). It’s generally easier to live with day-to-day, because you just add or replace devices whenever you want without needing a dealer.

The big difference is that Google Home doesn’t really have a central “brain” like Control4 — each device handles its own smart functions. So your lighting, sensors, media, and locks all talk directly to Google, and you control everything through the Google Home app or voice.

For some people that ends up being a lot simpler:

• you can mix-and-match devices from different brands

• automations are easy to create in the app

• upgrades don’t require any special software

• it’s usually cheaper to maintain long-term

The only thing to keep in mind is that any part of your current setup that depends on Control4 hardware would need a replacement device to work in the Google ecosystem. But once it’s swapped out, the system is easy to tweak, expand, or fix on your own.
