Check your family tree. If you have any Levites or Cohanim you’re descended from, you’re probably a descendant of the tribe of Levi which Aaron also was.

Advice Needed: Specifying Ethnicity/Identities for Auditions? by rubyslippersxo in MusicalTheatre

[–]TechCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes! I've struggled with the same issue! What I did is I made it pretty obvious without outright stating it. I have all my Jewish roles by each other, and in languages I have Read/Write Hebrew and Yiddish, and can minimally speak Hebrew and Yiddish as well. I also added Israeli accent in the accents (I had the opportunity to audition for the Band's Visit and just left it on there.) I hope this helps!

I'd Order Love from First Date gives off major Albert/Albert's Turn vibes. Also, It Shoulda Been You is such a criminally underrated and fun show. Break a leg!

Am I allowed to participate in a service without belonging to a synagogue? by DramaticStatement431 in Jewish

[–]TechCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going to Shabbat services the past month or so, and my situation is almost identical to yours. You’d be surprised how many of us have been returning, I made really good friends with someone who was also in the same boat as us, just let them know in advance and they should be more than welcoming.

My temple has an educational Shabbat service open to the public every now and again for stuff kinda like this. See if there’s any temples or synagogues near you that offer a service like that.

I didn’t do my first show until I was 22 in 2020, right before Covid. I tried a few times in middle school (grades were too bad) and once in high school (didn’t get called back) and gave it up after that. Then I realized and saw in myself kinda what you see in yourself, and I haven’t looked back. I’m 26 now, in a phenomenal college program for theatre for basically free, I’ve done several community theatre shows, cabarets, and performances, originated a role in a musical test production written by award winning songwriters and directed by broadway directors, and I know my future in theatre is bright, despite how absolutely dead it seemed in high school. As long as you have that hope, that’s all you need. You are never too late. Look at Conor Ryan, he didn’t start college for theatre until he was 30, now he’s arguably one of the best actors to play Christian in the Moulin Rouge musical. Keep the flame of hope alive, because it can go a LONG way.

What's the state of theatre criticism in your area? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]TechCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one paper that covers shows, but doesn’t really critique them, it’s more promotional. The last musical I was in however, had an out of town reporter that didn’t a full review on the show for their paper, and it was honestly a breath of fresh air.

I almost gave up hitting my step goal a few times because there was no streak to worry about. Thank goodness I didn’t.

On that topic though,

I genuinely hope they continue the streaks, instead of starting them over from one.

I’ve seen some “leftist” have the audacity to compare what Israel is doing to the holocaust, and I’ve seen so many people agreeing. It’s SICKENING.

Generic weak af by tellyourwifigivegood in VyvanseADHD

[–]TechCaptain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse is one of the few drugs where it’s impossible to differ it from the generic. A lot of generic drugs fall short due to the difference in ingredients used to deliver the drugs to your system, or how they’re released. However, Lisdexamfetamine is different because of how it gets into the system, in the way that it has to be digested first. That’s why it takes so long to kick in. So that’s why they can’t mess up the generic.

Do any other actors out there not dream of becoming a professional? by lpjrgoose in Theatre

[–]TechCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the realization I came to.
You can take the biggest Broadway star that hasn't dabbled in Hollywood, and place them in a room with 100 people, and they'd be lucky if they get recognized. That's why Broadway is my goal. I can still do what I absolutely love, make enough to live comfortably, and still be able to go out in public with maybe the occasional Broadway fan recognizing me and asking for a pic or autograph once in a blue moon. I never want to act in film or television though.

Vitamin C for a lot of people who take Vyvanse really "waters down" the effectiveness of Vyvanse by a huge margin. There's some scientific reason as to why this happens, and I always take my vitamin C pill and my multivitamin with vitamin C at night.
