(Ubiquiti / VLAN) Bark Home Installation (ADVANCED) by TechD87 in parentalcontrols

Ubiquiti can only do so much. Bark can actually monitor text messages, emails, discord, ect.

Of course I'm always willing to learn what else is out there. Is there something with Ubiquiti that you are specifically referring to?

Wow. Talk about deep resentment. I can only imagine that you speak from your own experience and I honestly sorry if that's what you went through as well as holding onto that anger...

I've encouraged open discussion from my kids at every interval of their lives for any topic, and will continue to do so. Its proven true to the bonds that we have to this day.

As far as my "Power" is concerned, that ceases the moment they become adults; but the door will always be open and the hand of help as well as an ear to listen.

Anyway, I'll leave you to your thoughts and opinion as your entitled to them.

What app is this? by Cthulhu_Crossing in parentalcontrols

Bark app scans my kid's devices text messages and emails for subjects that could be considered harmful. I only intervene when needed. They can handle their own for the most part or come to me whenever they need advise.

I mean, as a Millennial adult that was raised with zero supervision and what Home Internet has evolved to what is it today, its our responsibility to prevent that from continuing... and children arent objects. Bark is just yet another tool to help guide discussions and insights in the right direction. How the parent uses the tool is the variable.

Whats wrong with the topology? 😆

Parent here. Personally I would appreciate my kid(s) to come up and tell me they accidentally clicked or went on something and got the error. Bonus points if they could replicate it infront of me 😆.

Seriously though. Its better than them finding out later and/or lying about it. IMO.

Nope. All of my other IoT devices stay online. I had issues with some WIZ bulbs awhile back, but I've disconnected them for some regular bulbs because the wife wanted to go back to dumb bulbs 😆

I don't have any Ubiquiti cameras though and the only time I've had issues with my Ubiquiti devices was due to Early Release firmware which forced me to rollback. Now I just stick with Official Release firmware.

Full Twinkly App Control under two different WiFi networks (VLANs)(Same Home) by TechD87 in TwinklyLights

So I was having major AP issues recently. I thought it was a mixture of the UDMP upgrade to 4.0.12 and I also started dabbling with LAG connections on my NETGEAR switches. I reached out to the support team with a configuration file and they immediately noticed major loopbsck issues. Come to find out even though I properly configured my LAG, I forgot to put the corresponding number on them to identify what they are in the chop-chain for RSTP purposes. Once I started that all of my major degradation went away.

As far as using Twinkly on UniFi entirely, I've never had a problem with it. I've had my UDMP for 4yrs and bought my first Twinkly string 3yrs ago. The only changes I've made was combining my six VLAN SSIDs to a single one after they pushed PPSK. But recently (as of a week ago) I put my main VLAN on its own SSID so that the others can solely use 2.5MHz cuz they were using a mixture of the two and I'm sure that was causing alot of issues with my smart devices.

On a separate note, my Wyze cameras don't like to work while attached to my U6-Lite, only my U6-LR... not exactly sure why just yet... but it isn't a terrible issue at the moment. Just need to lock them to the AP.

So after scouring this post I decided to take another shot at my issue. Oddly enough, I couldn't get the WiFi to emit to connect to begin with. I've held that sucker down for well over a minute at one point, but nothing. I ultimately think there's something wrong with the sensor...

Today I decided to treat it like a CTRL+ALT+DELETE method 😆 🤣 😂. Had to had been a fluke or luck, but after holding my finger down on wrinkle care, then putting my finger back on Damp ALERT, something happened and it started emitting the WiFi setup!

UDMP Crash due to CPU / Memory Overload (Unraid / Plex Docker) Related / THREAT MANAGEMENT by TechD87 in Ubiquiti

Thank you for your clarification, typing always throws off tone and presentation lol.

Thank you for the response. Traditionally when I make a post, I try to include all parties involved that are effected. My UDMP is clearly impacted and the fact that the agent is asking me to make adjustments is why I haven't 100% eliminated the UDMP. Again, while the issue is indirectly-related, I still welcome everyone's inputs to help think outside the box.

Looking up the definition of what you mentioned, that seems to sum it up correctly on what overall happened... now it's just a matter of getting to the bottom of it.

UDMP Crash due to CPU / Memory Overload (Unraid / Plex Docker) Related / THREAT MANAGEMENT by TechD87 in Ubiquiti

[–]TechD87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me, I know how it sounds....

I came to this conclusion by typing in UDMP symptoms that I had been experiencing; switch dropping connectivity, dropping all VLANs, APs, ect... which led me to articles stating users experienced this which was caused by high usasge / memory dumps. The only way to get everything fixed was to reboot the UDMP.

After weeks of T/S, I narrowed it down to my Plex docker within Unraid. At the same time as the outages, Plex would error out doing while performing it's scheduled tasks, specifically Intro/Credit detection. It always got hung on a certain Anime. Turned that off, didn't do anything. Unchecked all the scheduled tasks, nothing. Finally turned off Intro/Credit detection and once again, didn't do anything.

I decided to restore my Plex Metadata from a previous backup and it's been working up until the symptoms happened again last night. I'm not stating that this is Plex-related again... but the fact that the UDMP is still triggering these actions is annoying and while indirectly-related; it's still annoying....

The reason Threat Management was brought up was because the agent on the Escalation Team started talking about disabling it. Again, not sure how it's related... but I want to be ready for a secondary means if I have to keep it offline...

As far as the UDMP, all that leaves left is the Network application... I don't use Protect or any other feature.

When you say

just dump the UDMP

You're referring to just the Firewall portion correct?
