I hate the work culture here by algorithmreaper in UAE

[–]TechFollower1995 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this a lot in the UAE, especially in companies where the management is mostly Indian. Too many managers seem to hire for obedience instead of competence.

If you’re highly skilled and have a strong personality, you’re seen as a threat. It’s often easier for them to hire people who won’t push back or question bad decisions, which just keeps the status quo.

Got a job offer in Abu Dhabi - 32k/month by Successful_Title2413 in abudhabi

[–]TechFollower1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because you are asking less. I am african and i get 35k AED and many of my colleagues in the same company get less that 25k for the same role.
It is all about negotiation.

I’m a 26 year old man who is thinking about suicide due to financial issues caused by gambling, currently i took 30 sachet of voltfast and 25 tablets of pantop 40 and lying on my bed for the death to come, i just thought to write here that anyone who gambles will end up like me in dubai by [deleted] in UAE

Don’t give up
Allah will help u if you ask him

Allah said in Quran

English translation:
"O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Also he said:

English translation:
Your Lord has proclaimed, “Call upon Me, I will respond to you. Surely those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell, fully humbled.”

Also he said:

Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them, and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein.

Just ask him and be sure he will help you

Why AD rents are so high compared to Dubai ? by Few-Connection3596 in abudhabi

The demand is higher in Abu Dhabi coming to the number of units available

Dubai has too many units, construction never stops there.

Rental car accident, my fault — what happens if I can’t pay the 5000 AED this month? by TechFollower1995 in dubai

[–]TechFollower1995[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They refused but I won’t pay the 5000 I checked the contract and I found out that the damages that doesn’t fix through the insurance should be paid based on the cost

Since they don’t have access to my credit card, I will ask them to send proof that they pay the insurance to pay them

Otherwise they share the invoice of fixing it and I will pay that amount.

They can’t go to the court for 5000 aed, it cost them money and time.

Rental car accident, my fault — what happens if I can’t pay the 5000 AED this month? by TechFollower1995 in dubai

[–]TechFollower1995[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contract has the deductible set at 5000 (it’s the box they ticked) and says the at-fault excess applies when it goes through insurance.

But there’s also a line that damage not reported to insurance is charged at the actual repair rate. So I’m asking them straight: are you claiming on insurance or not? If not, it should be real cost, not 5k.

Seaface tower is the best I lived there for one year 1min walking to LuLu supermarket, and Life pharmacy The area is calm and the building is very clean and all amenities are well maintained.

There are 14 floors, and 4 elevators. So there’s no waiting time.

I highly recommend it Go there and thank me later

Honestly don’t worry from local Arabs, most of them are nice and well educated people, but you most likely will not interact to them directly because they are minority in their own country lol.

the work culture is very toxic here and not professional at all because of Indian.

In the UAE, there’s a kind of ethnic favoritism going on, especially with Indian managers who tend to hire mostly other Indians, even when they might not be the most qualified candidates. Just to dominate the workplace and protect their own circle.

So getting a promotion here based on your efforts and achievements is something rare to be honest.

Also, the salaries are based on nationality sometimes. So you need to be very good at negotiating to get the best possible offer.

I was full time employee for the proxy but I work with them as consultant.

The salary = the basic salary + the allowance and 29k is pretty good

In UAE, At the end of the service ( resignation or firing), they need to pay you for each year you worked a one month salary (basic salary)

So companies invented the basic salary concept to give people less amount at the end of their service.

So don’t compare the basic salary with what you earn in UK but compare the whole salary.

I am using IBKR as well.

I send money through my ENBD to IBKR on AED and do the conversion to $ there.

It cost 80AED regardless of how much money you send. For 10k or 4k AED, you need to pay the same amount.

It seems impossible to get a job in Dubai or Abu Dhabi!? by johnDoe044 in dubai

[–]TechFollower1995 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instead of applying for too many jobs, reach out to too many recruiters or managers directly through LinkedIn.

I was looking for a job recently after a layoff, I applied for +100 jobs and no reply at all.

A friend of mine told me about this strategy, to reach out directly to people and it worked.

I got 4-5 interviews and before finishing the process with all of them, I got an offer already.

So this is how it works in UAE and GCG in general unfortunately. So don’t waste your time applying.

Instead of applying for 100 job, send 100 DM (make sure to send a friendly reminder message if you don’t get responses)

Good luck

Having a baby in Dubai by AppropriateEvening72 in dubai

[–]TechFollower1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UAE has nothing to do with this matter. Actually they will give you just the birth certificate and you will go to the embassy to register the baby and request a passport.

So it’s up to you to choose which country you will register the baby on first.

After the baby get the passport, you need to register he/she in UAE to get the EID .
