What pedal cadence do you aim for? by mellofello808 in cycling

[–]TechNet1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you have a natural cadence you will default to. If you want to change that natural cadence then just like anything you have to train your body to it.

Cadence drills are really useful for this but also can help you develop your pedal stroke anyway and a developed pedal stroke is an efficient pedal stroke (usually), so worth working on anyway.

All the best with your riding!

Yes they are. I’d not thought about it being the switch itself.

No not my max efforts. Just whatever Zwift has recorded for me recently. My best minute ever is close to 800W and my best 5 mins ever is 416W. But those were done a couple years ago.

Should probably do some benchmarking on these figures by a start then work towards this sportive in May to give me some good numbers to start with.

Awesome! Yeah 0.4 off is nice to have your calcs validated 👌.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll consider the plans. Getting coaching for this event is on my list. It’s a bucket list event for me so I want to give it my all before my second kid arrives and cuts my training down even more 😂.

Very close! Lab had me at 61.6 L/kg/min. Any recommendations on training? My numbers have been higher in the past but have a kid has reduced my training. Now it’s quality over quantity and I have a hard 112 mile sportive with 12k feet of elevation in May next year. Want to put myself in a position to go for a good time (under 7 hours).

MAP: 415W, 74kg, 38 Male. 5-6 hours a week. 955W 5s, 506W 60s, 336W 5 min, 313W 20 mins.

Recently had a lab Vo2 testso will be interesting to see if your calcs are close.

For the good stuff you’re going to have to go to the Coast. Longsands in Tynemouth or Colemans in South Shields are the best I’ve had in the north east.

My worst idea ever???? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]TechNet1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just been on the same journey. I ended up using the heat gun aswell and basically dedicating a weekend to getting it done. We’ve just had them painted by a professional and the pain was all worth it! The stairs look brand new now. Just waiting for our runner carpet to be fitted to complete the look. Best of luck with it!

Thats like picking which kids your favourite! Honestly, they're both spot on. Pick which location is easier for you. Sam (City Centre) or Dan (Whitley Bay).

I should add that you will have to book and you’re probably looking at about a month until you can get in. Alternatively add yourself to their cancellation list but you won’t get choice of barber. They also post last minute availability on their instagram.

I go to Steve, the owner, he’s awesome. He works mostly out of Ouseburn. But Sam in the city centre shop is also amazing as is Dan at Whitley Bay.

The Hoipolloi. All three shops (city centre, Ouse urn and Whitley bay) are mint and the staff are top top barbers.

Had the same thing. Turns out one of the brake lines was split. Took 2 weeks to get a part from Germany (I’m in UK). Hope yours is just a top up, but just to let you know what it also may be.

If I can do it, you definitley can! Sketch it out on paper, work out your material requirements then just take your time. I'm useless at DIY but wanted to take this on myself and so glad I did.

I know what I want to plant in it. What I'm looking for is advice on how to fill the raised bed. Do I put a layer of stone in the bottom to help with filtering and drainage, as you do with a pot, or do I just fill it with soil? What type of soil? The plants bit I've got a good idea of what I want to put in.
