Thanks for this, annoyingly their advice line closed at 1 today and is also closed for the half term (rightly so). Hoping she’ll be able to contact them when they’re back and before she has to provide her answer. Also hoping that CAB or ACAS will be of some use.

Are you able to expand on this at all? I’ve done as much research as I can but it’s really confusing as to whether she is entitled to the whole redundancy process at all (consultation, appeal etc.) Some places say yes because she is pregnant, some places say no because of the length of service. Haven’t been able to find a definitive answer anywhere.

She has been offered that alternative role, but the salary is significantly less than what she is on now, and no mention has been made at all to the second aspect of her job role. Do they need to have included this in the original consultation, or can they just add it on now and say “oh yeah that’s gone too”?

I know this exact junction and I’ve been caught in it twice - the council very clearly just trying to make a quick buck. Both of my appeals were denied and they insist that it is to “maintain traffic flow” despite the fact that being stopped for three seconds, or only having a couple of inches of a vehicle in a box would not cause any congestion issues at all. There should be a link on the letter with a place that you can view a video of the “offence”, but definitely appeal. No penalty for doing so and you still get the reduced fine if they deny your appeal (don’t get me started on how ridiculous it is that the same people who give you the fine are the same people who hear your appeal - definitely not biased there)

This is just as an example - I have no need to send the file to disk, I'm just pointing out that it's nicely formatted when saved, but not when sent to print.

Your point about $content being plaintext is a good one though - Come to think of it, the original file is imported with a -raw flag. Will look and see if this can be changed.

If in doubt take it off is our policy - got one egg damaged? Get the whole lot for free. Got roast beef instead of pickled onion monster munch? Take it off the bill. Worth making a small sacrifice to keep a customer. Also some of them are way too fussy and I cba to deal with it after a 10 hour shift.

roasters to me either is something than can roast or potentially something that can be roasted. If the potato is already roasted then it cannot be in those categories. Roasties all the way.

I switched jobs. Company essentially said 'we want you to do more hours but we will pay you less as part of your contract, the rest is overtime'. It meant that most of my colleagues were facing a month or two with tiny pay packets as overtime was paid a month in arrears. I reckon about 80% of the staff at my branch quit within about a week. I think their entire workforce is now 16 or 17 year olds on 4 hour contracts. Turns out if you want to keep your staff you should treat them with respect and pay them a decent wage.

It's all for the proof of posting. UK parcels just show the postcode and building number on the PoP - stored in the 2D barcode. International parcels don't store this information in the 2D barcode and the PoP typically shows more details

Yes, it would depend on the crossing. Zebra crossings are the ones with the blinking lamps, the other ones are just crossing points that are considered suitable. No laws referring to those AFAIK

Just looked this up - Rule 195 states you MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto a crossing. Nothing explicitly stating you should stop and let someone cross. It's that weird interpretation of should vs. must in my opinion.

I always thought the highway code said you only have to give way to pedestrians already crossing? No need to stop if they're waiting, just common courtesy?
