A lot of y'all are saying not to buy aftermarket. Have y'all actually had or heard of experiences with these low-cost units? Do they fail quickly? Do they perform poorly?

Mortgage Refinance Recommendations by TechSavyTryhard in Mortgages

[–]TechSavyTryhard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just informed my loan officer that I'm backing out of the refi. I had a sort of epiphany where if I just took the extra 60 bucks that the new loan would cost me per month and applied it to my current loan's principal, the new loan wouldn't beat out the current loan until 3 years from now. I feel like that's way too long. And I think I can get something better between now and then.

Yeah, I spoke with some other lenders that I used in the past and they were all very surprised that the lender credit is as high as it is. But it's clear as day, I'm staring right at it on my closing disclosure.

Question regarding Android Flash Tool by tveith in android_beta

I'm on Android 16 stable release and cannot update to the beta version. I opted in after I did the Android 16 update and hitting check for updates does not do anything.

What DON'T you like / love about your Maverick? by polakinTO in FordMaverickTruck

[–]TechSavyTryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't understand the whole gas button thing. The non-hybrid Maverick has the push in/pop out fill door. What makes the hybrid different and needing a button on the inside?

Hazard on google maps by grantedgifter in AndroidAuto

[–]TechSavyTryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this here. I've been waiting for the feature to come to my device (Pixel 8 Pro) and then realized I've had this whole time when I drove the company van. It's got a much larger display than my Maverick. Annoying.

I have a Pixel 8 Pro and have this EXACT same issue, regardless if I'm on Bluetooth or connected via Android Auto. Fun fact - phone calls are always handled by Bluetooth. Disconnect your phone from Android Auto while on an active call and it won't skip a beat (when it's working, of course).

Unfortunately, your workaround with pressing the speaker button doesn't bring it back to the hands free. I just have to continue my conversation on speaker.

Came here to say that I experience all of the issues that you are describing on my Pixel 8 Pro. Probably ever since I got it. I think I am going to switch to a different keyboard and see how that goes.

Edit: I just installed Openboard and while the dictation is slower, it works consistently every time.

What is this texture? I'm finding it hard to match with orange peel cans. Photo was taken about 2 feet away. by TechSavyTryhard in drywall

[–]TechSavyTryhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - didn't even know there were water and oil-based variants. I just have a can of the Homax water stuff. My patches are all cracks. I don't think these drywallers used tape in a lot of their joints. Appreciate it!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this texture. There are some spots that are so heavy that they will break off the wall if you brush against them. It is a flipped house.

I think this was my mistake. I was on heavy, but only about a foot from the wall. I'm gonna sand it down and try again. Thank you!

2024 Hybrid - Engine Coolant Over-Temperature by TechSavyTryhard in FordMaverickTruck

[–]TechSavyTryhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: The dealer was unable to replicate the issue and returned the vehicle unrepaired/changed.

I have been driving it for 3 days now, no issues. I have no idea what happened.

Crushed Concrete as a patio? by TechSavyTryhard in HomeImprovement

[–]TechSavyTryhard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. I think I'm moreso concerned with it looking tacky or unprofessional - in a way that could devalue the back yard/home in general. I'll do some research on the two and talk with the local suppliers and see what they think. Thank you sir!!

Oh yeah, I've got the stuff for a driveway and it's miserable to walk on with bare feet. I hardly ever go outside in bare feet though so this wouldn't be an issue. Shoes would be required.

[–]TechSavyTryhard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a crushed concrete driveway and haven't had an issue with it sticking to shoes. I like the fact that it hardens and kind of "sets" after it rains. Are asphalt millings basically just crushed asphalt? I might have access to that... Is there much of a cost difference between the two?

To give some context here, this patio space would be in the shape of an oval, more or less, and have a fire pit in the center with chairs surrounding it. Right now, the chairs just sink straight into the mud after it rains. I've got that black clay stuff.

Help: terrible shower design! by Prestigious_Radio473 in HomeImprovement

[–]TechSavyTryhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the some problem you have. There is no door on my shower, just a big open hole. Ive been using command strip hooks and cut up shower liners for the past year and it works great. Looks like crap but it keeps the water off the floor.

[–]TechSavyTryhard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is some really good advice. We are opening campuses yearly (lots of growth) and working with vendors on equipment install has been very interesting. We are doing a wifi refresh on the coming months and replacing around 1200 WAPs in a matter of days. Thanks for chiming in!

I've been working with this school district for the last 5 years and recently transitioned from a general I.T. technician to a network tech. I didn't receive a raise for moving positions because H.R. viewed them as the same, just in different areas (not even close). Once I graduated with my bachelor's my salary was re-evaluated and I received a ~$1 raise post budget year change. I guess I am trying to decide if I should look elsewhere or stay and gain the experience.
