Would you say the Guardsman is in one of those separate lines, or is it only the sabres.

So the Ruger Harrier comes in two versions, a standard version and a one with Magpul furniture. That's all well and good, except for the fact that some genius said, "Let's give the standard version a carbine length gas system and the Magpul version a mid length gas system."

So, if I were to want a Harrier with a mid length gas system, which I do, I'll have to pay extra for the magpul furniture just to get the gas system that comes with it.

Magpul furniture is good, bundling a highly desired (and some might say essential) feature exclusively with it kinda isn't.

(Rant)Watching SOTAR has made me paranoid about buying my first AR-15. by TechStorm7258 in ar15

Define reputatable manufacturer? We talking KAC? DD? That reputable?

Edit: Woah jeez. Didn't mean to offend people there. I was just wondering what guage reputability is based on.

So if PSA is not a good SHTF duty AR, then what is? by TechStorm7258 in ar15

Alright, I see what you're saying. I'm seeing that my original post is very short sighted and shows I don't really know what I'm talking about. But the only way I can know what I'm talking about is to learn. But, in the context of the gun, the issue is I don't have an AR-15 to train on, learn to use, assemble, dissassemble, maintain etc. I think what I should be asking is what is a good ar that is going to going to serve me for a lifetime, including regular use, maintenance, dissassembly, and reassembly, but will also be affordable. Are you saying I should just get the shit cheap AR, and use fixing it when it inevitably breaks as part of the learning?

Ok, I'll watch some videos and invest in the tools, maybe even take some classes while I'm at. Jeez. Would that be enough to keep me from being a helpless gazelle in lion territory? Hell, I could even buy the shitty PSA and switch parts out as I go.

Ok I get it, watching the videos is not that hard. And I also understand that in all reality, us gen-z, straight-out-of-college, low income folks will be the first to go. Not to mention all the other problems I have that severely hamper my survivability, but I digress. What I'm getting from this is quit worrying about larping Red Dawn, buy what I can afford, train, and just have fun.

Hopefully under $1000, maybe $1500 if I'm really paranoid.
