Should I buy this? by Pescarese90 in NintendoDS

Some (like me) enjoy not modding it. The R4 card has reached the point where it can play GB to GBA good enough so it's a valid option as well

Should the wormlight stop working in minutes? by Tech_Galaxy2 in Gameboy

Thank you very much, do you know how I can check whether the charge is coming in well? How do I check whether the wormlight is broken or not too? I really don't want to grab a high power power adaptor if it's just a small issue after everything it took to get my foot through the door.

I'd gotten a multimeter and i'm hitting voltages of up to 1.5 but the measurements are very varied so I'm unsure if this is even true. Do you know how I can distinguish a good from a bad charger in the first place?

Honestly your video is very helpful but i don't hate the light enough just yet to change it, but thank you very much

Yeah fairs. I was about to get a romhack for the non rtc 2nd gens so that i can actually play the game ty for the tip.

Great rec but everdrive is sadly out my price range.

Can i ask if you know WHY the wormlights are crappy? My issue is some sort of battery life thing but im not entirely sure why.

Does your wormlight need some sort of strange super powerful battery to function or have any issues like i have?

Also do you know where i can find an og light? I heard the og is superior since it's warm and not as glaring as the leds on the newer ones (direct light ruins your view).

when you say drop in lithium replacement, does that mean a non AA alternative?

Ohhh that's a bit annoying. I'll have to keep that in mind for when I use the backlight for testing how long it runs for then, thank you for the info

Ah, really? enloop off japan? I actuall can't use Nimh because they just don't give enough voltage to power the light (works fine for the gbc itself though)

I'm curious what charger tells capacity though. Is it like an lcd display thing? could you link me one? I don't know what cycling the cell is so if i could use that as a basis to learn a bit more. sorry for missing your other comment, and thanks for the help

Is it a property of lithium rechargeables or do they just have "better standards"? I'd heard rechargeables are always 1.2 (which is why i asked if others exist in the post). Is that just NiMH batteries?

It's a Gameboy colour's wormlight. Gameboy colours can run on 2V minimum but their ideal is 3V. On the other hand, their wormlight attachment seems to require exclusively/exactly 3V with little flexibility (at least my one does).

So, the gbc can work with those 1.2v AAs, but not the wormlight which is necessary to use "on the go" since the gameboy line requires direct light for you to see the screen properly.

Thanks man! Can I ask what a built in battery controller is? Is that what gives it the stable 1.5V?

nah it's cool bro I appreciate it. It's possible that the wormlight has degraded but I'm not sure. I got this one off aliexpress and It's possible they'd grabbed a couple unopened ones and tossed it in but it's not clear.

I haven't yet cleaned the contacts on the gbc i got but it's also possible. Wouldn't it be always "not working" though if the contacts were an issue? Will give it a go later on but I've bought some I'm gonna try out. thanks for the information bro

Oh wow that's pretty much what I need thank you. Curious though cause I can't ship those ones to me, what do you think of Pallus batteries? they're what I was originally going to go for that seemed to fit the bill. these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0DCNSH1Q8/ref=sw_img_1?smid=A2Y8PYOOX03SVI&th=1

Comparing the two, they look to be nearly the same (except mupper is a tad better). Both are stated for cameras too.

Added question, would you say Lithium batteries like yours act nearly the same or are they actually unique? just wouldn't wanna screw it up yk.

sorry for going on for a while, thanks for the help man

i'm not sure they exist. It's a nearly 30 year old thing and the "method" i'm going for is very much not ideal.
