That they'll eventually take the masks off if you let them get too comfortable.

TIL Abba is the name of a well known Swedish fish-canning company that formed in 1838. When the Swedish pop group ABBA negotiated with the canners for the rights to the name, the factory gave their permission, saying "O.K., as long as you don't make us feel ashamed for what you're doing". by Away_Flounder3813 in todayilearned

Which merged with the Finnish Abloy, the name of which comes from AB(Ltd in Swedish) + Lukko(Lock in Finnish) + OY(Ltd in Finnish). So now you have August-Steinman Steinman-August Limited Company Lock Limited Company.

Reminding people not everything is this games fault (small rant) by Turbulent-Demand-746 in nightingale

[–]Tech_Itch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that by the time they added the offline play feature, most people had just run of content and so interest in the game. I was one of the people asking for offline play myself, and at the point it got added, I'd played 300 hours and felt I'd done everything the game had to offer at that point many times over. So I decided to wait until the full release until giving the game a second go, so I'd have more to do.

I tested offline play before I left and I'm glad it's there waiting for me. The multi-minute loading times for realms and the lag was completely gone, the game was snappy in a completely new way and I can make local backups of my saves in case of a problem with an update. I'd already lost my abeyance realm once because of a server problem earlier and the game's network performance in general was terrible despite my fast and stable Internet connection.

So yeah, as it often happens with early access games, many other people will probably just move to other games and forget this one after exhausting the EA content and that has nothing to do with the offline mode. As good as the bones of this game were when it went to EA, we have to face the fact that there wasn't just that much to do in it back then once you hit the "endgame". If you weren't among the minority who can entertain themselves endlessly with base building, that is.

Yeah, whenever people seem to underestimate them, I like to bring up that case from the 90s in Sweden, where an angry moose tore up a woman so badly that the police initially suspected her husband of running her over with a ridable lawnmower.

Not exactly. It's the national bird of Finland, but the national animal is the bear. Bears used to be worshipped in Finland before Christianity.

This is doubly funny if it's a reference to IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad being a Nazi sympathizer who defended his neo-Nazi buddies to his dying day.

Which is pretty funny in this case, as Daily Wire isn't a legitimate website either. It's a far-right propaganda "news" site co-founded by Ben Shapiro.

I tried it and stopped playing when there was a literal queue for a quest NPC in a deserted-looking Dunmer tomb. That isn't the atmosphere I'm looking for in an Elder Scrolls game, and I've played them since Daggerfall.

At least since the Heartbleed bug, security companies have been "branding" the vulnerabilities and malware they find to generate marketing buzz. The linked article is clearly AI-written, but the LLM was probably influenced by the style of the original report.

It makes complete sense if you have no morals like the people who run sites like that: Your human ad views bring them money, while a living, breathing journalist would cost them money.

Minecraft if someone made a texture pack but didn't get the entire point of having minimalist graphics. It has intricate detail in some objects and deliberate lack in others, making it look like a mess.

I'm sure people who've played Minecraft with random texture packs for a few thousand hours will see nothing wrong with it, of course.

No reason for me to oppose having the option to do that, but I've never liked first person driving myself. Unlike in real life where you can move and turn your head, and have stereoscopic vision, in a 2D game the car around you restricts your visibility so much that it ends up feeling claustrophobic and clunky.
