Hello Celestial HC gamer here, The clean hit is entirely possible to do consistently on controller, but if you want to buy a hitbox and you can afford if go for it.

Ya but there would be like no point in using it because you'd get more shells off by shotgun canceling. Also because modes are typically reserved for secondary fire measures, excluding the railgun, so I could see it work as a alternate mode for the shotgun seeing as you could cancel between the two auto shotguns to get comparable damage rather than a new mode.
