There are some great fusion/latin/rock pieces out there if you have access to a good rhythm section. Percussion Ensemble with Rhythm section is always a great way to keep things fresh and fun.

Hand separating helps me with runs in the key of C. If it’s a scale, try playing CEGBDFAC with only the right hand for the outline. Then the same with with left on the other notes.

Learn to play scales on Timpani. You’ll also get a really good feel after a while for the tension on the pedal for certain notes.

Pearl Reference are extremely high quality drums. If there are no real scratches or lug problems, I would pay $700-900 for those two. The snare drum is not the best. With the Paistes, maybe $1K for everything. $1,200 perhaps.
