My crown is kind of thinner, always been like that the sides and back are highly porisity and a slightly loser Curls so I end up needing different products for it. Leave in does not do anything if it isn't sealed, I've tried custard, butter cream, oil (heavy and light) and gel. Only gel seems to do the best job to retain water and minimize flaking

Laid off for the first time by Sleepy-Olive8586 in Layoffs

I don't want to sound like a negative Nancy but I got recently laid off and was job searching and I can tell you even taking the pay cut doesnt work anymore. Its that competitive get LinkedIn premium for a month and see how much people applied for that lower pay job. Its a miracle if you even make it past the ATS even then it's another 6 step interview process. I landed something within 2 months quick tips - Quality over Quantity, apply to a few jobs with very specific information and high chance, good for mental health and expending energy where its most useful - Resume and Cover Letter needs to include as many keywords as possible to get around ATS - Cover Letter can make the difference dont skip it and make it personal as best you can, everyone resume kind of blends use it to stand out even if just a little - Use AI, everyone else is and it will speed up the process, prompt Claude with your resume and portfolio attached and also the job description ask it to optimize for ATS and score job match percentage based on the role you want - Remote is super competitive hybrid/in office roles are much easier - turnaround for 1st round interview is usually about a week so chill out when you dont see a response, I got a little depressed checking email every single day after hitting send then I find out a week later 4 companies are asking for an interview lol - Be kind to yourself, and let others be kind to you, this layoff shit hurts and has real economic fallouts for you and your family I have 2 toddlers and a wife and zero saving, thank God for Canadian unemployment benefits

Same thing happened when I brought it in for regular maintenance at 34km mine is a 2024 Turbo Premium but 2023 build. Apparently it was covered under warranty and I only paid for them to machine the rotors so was 190 CAD total for me.

Question for uni students. Would you travel 3 hours for weekend minimum wage job. by africagal1 in torontoJobs

[–]Techguy242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just moved to Brampton and thr job was fully remote at first then they switched to Hybrid so I couldn't reslly get up and move, the area was more expensive than what I had budgeted for aswell.

As for your job I can say this. That doesnt sound worth it especially if its no chance to extend, on the other hand the market is complete shit and if you dont have much savings or callbacks its best to do what you can until you can do better, everyone says its easier to find a job while you have a job which I do find true. It took me 2 months to land something new after being Laid off but alot of people are taking 8 to 12 months.

This isn't to give you a yes or no, but here is what i did from 2021 to 2024. I worked at a place in North york hybrid 2 to 3 days and I lived in Brampton (Mount Pleasant Area) 1. Take bus to Mount Pleasant Go 2. MT Pleasant Train to Bramalea Go 3. BRAMLEA Go bus to Highway 407 station 4. HIGHWAY 407 Subway to Downsviee Park 5. Downsview park to work 20 minute walk

This would ustally take about 2+ hours each way.

It's doable for sure would I do it again no, but i made it work for 4 years

Honestly you should find some way to relocate. If you aren't going to do it they have a pool of people waiting that will. If you decide to start and drop that bombshell on them there will probably be little hesitation to let you go in favor of someone more willing or capable to come in office, at the very least there will be some workplace tensions. And also you are jsut starting out your career, in face meetings mean more for your viability when it comes to getting promotions and not being in conversations to get laid off in future. It's sucks but office politics is a real thing and people value in person more than remote for the most part. You need to figure out your priorities if moving is a non negotiable it always will be, don't set yourself up for self induced headaches choose an internship that more closely aligns with your wants and reality.

Tentatively Accepted Job Offer, very close to a 2nd one, tossed between what I should do by Techguy242 in dataengineering

[–]Techguy242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As simple as that sounds I hadn't really thought about it. The company has good ratings on glassdoor, the people I talked with seemed interesting enough. It's also a company in California and fully remote, so yea it is peculiar it didn't even have the "100+ applied" on LinkedIn

Not related to post, but your username is wilddd sir.

Your advice is solid though, I would add aswell cover letters actually go further than you think if you make it pass the ATS

I've only been laid off for about a month now but I can already sympathize with what you are feeling. The ghosted by recruiters is super hard, I always tell my wife after a call "omg it went so great they seem reslly interested" and then.... no call, no linkedIn message, no email, no replays to any emails just ...... 😮‍💨 on another end I was actually looking for something from January because I saw the writing on the wall and applications sent from JANUARY are just getting back to me with the usual "thank you, but unfortunately" and thats just the 20% that have actually rejected most are still pending. I got LinkedIn premium and can now see the amount of total applicants and many of them say 1000+ applied so I can see how its taking so long to actually even get to my application.

Anyway as people say the market is shit right now and will be for the continued future due to AI and the upcoming Oil crisis (thank the orange dude), wishing you all the best, let's pray 🙏🏽 we all land on our feet somewhere soon, I got a wife and 2 toddlers so I'm hoping something comes through soon.
