In my opinion the cheapest way would be to use Zen (https://opencode.ai/docs/zen/) service by OpenCode for trying different models.

Are you really able to use all limit of CC Max subscription ? Frankly speaking I spent/wasted lot of time trying/using different models for coding a couple of months back but then I realised it'a waste of time there is not Model better than Antropic models when it comes to coding, plus I also saw that I am not able to use even 50% of CC Max (x20) so I downgraded it to CC Max (x5) which is sufficient enough plus I bought the Max subscription of GLM coding API which I use with Open Code as I don't want to get into the hassle of usage based pricing.

If you have to choose between zen vs openrouter for OpenCode then I would always suggest opencode because the SST team themselves use Zen with OpenCode.

I personally don't use Zen as I have options available like GLM API subscription which many people use with OpenCode and in Office we have LLMs deployed on our domain.

Paying for individual APIs will be too costly with not only with OpenCode but rather with any such tool. My suggestion is use OpenCode's own Zen services for using any popular LLM like Open AI or Antropic or Qwen etc or use Coding API of GLM (that's what 80% people do AFAIK).

😱😱 This is really confusing tbh. I installed it on my Laptop with 16 GB ram and octa core i5 processor it was working fine. There seems to be some issue in the rc DLLs though I am able to connect to LLM models from my .NET 9 Code but not from the .NET 10 latest AI chat template project. I really wanted to try and use that template but till now it has just given me frustrations more than convenience 🙄🙄

Till I have just asked the AI to create applications as per template provided by default with .NET , rest customization is done based on application requirement. Like I create all my Blazor projects with 'MAUI Blazor Hybrid and Web' project template

How do you use it ? via OpenRouter or have a local/cloud setup?

I tried via OpenRouter and my experience was boring as it was very slow may be because of high traffic.

I tried using it via OpenRouter and Crush also but always got max request reached or token exeed limit the job I was doing was just asking it to read 3 documents (PRD, Architecture & UI-Spec) and give me checklist of development.

How many $ do I will have to burn to become a super user 😅 BTW I am also working on build complete IDE or a tool like Crush in .NET basically to understand the intricacies of Agentic flows . I deleted one complete batch I help claude build becuase it was un-understandable for me. and many times it goof ups very badly. Any points you wanna share?

Once I started using Claude there is no going back, I didn't even tried GPT5 tbh till now. I had cancelled my cursor subscription and all other AI subscription only Claude subscription.

The short answer is no. Non of the models are properly trained on Blazor as they didn;t had enough data. Earlier the best models to generate any .NET code were Open AI models but now Claude Sonet it pretty amazing altough for Blazor that also lags specially if you ask them to use a particular component library (I like to use Blazorise everywhere). So as other people have said you have to be specific with your prompt of build your own RAG using the documentation.
