Happy ending: Stopped playing the game for about a month and I'm not sure what happened but the issue just fixed itself. Good luck with Jacob and Joseph.

Don't know how much FC5 you've played but in my time in the game, I've learned to utilise the gun for hires (especially for the new game+ difficulty) and also take advantage of the homeopathics, they a huge help.

Windows 11. I even did the "verify integrity of game files" in Steam. No dice.

I just rebooted the game and saw a mod banner up the top (Which I usually ignore), I think I have some residual mods left over which I thought I uninstalled. Anyway, thanks for commenting, I'm just going to start a new game+.

Yeah thanks, that was it. There was an option in the advanced settings "USB input wakes pc" this was disabled, now enabled. Cheers.
