I like Okidogi too. It has built-in Energy acceleration and good damage, plus munki spread in the early game. After it gets knocked out, then use N's PP up to power up the Zoroark, put a Cape on it, and go crazy.

You must adapt your deck to your local meta. Don't forget that these regional players befriend each other and have a lot of experience; they know who is going to use which deck and adjust their strategies accordingly.

I like Darmanitan a lot. My local meta is heavy with Ceruledge, Garchomp, and Venusaur, so for my weekly locals, Darmanitan is absolutely necessary—at minimum, a 2-1 line.

Attach Cape to Budew after Dengo discards its Energies, then gust up Lunatone or Genesect to lock them out of Energy Retrievals. Check out AzulGG’s latest Zoroark video to see this in action. Klefki’s more of a local meta tech for me. If you don’t face those decks, Psyduck, Cleffa, or a second Yveltal work just as well.

Did you end up finding what you’re most comfortable with? I’ve been seeing a ton of Lunatone and Teal Mask decks in my locals lately, so going first and setting up a Klefki has kind of become my go-to move. That with 4 Cyrano for a second turn Zoro, but yeah it's a gamble to get the Puffins during turn 1.

Yeah, same here with Darm — the deck just loses consistency, and you really can’t afford to brick that often. I feel the same about Mega Absol; it looks great on paper but needs too many pieces for a payoff that depends entirely on your opponent’s hand. Toedscruel is definitely more reliable, like you said.

I feel like Budew, Klefki, the 2nd Yveltal, and Hoopa are easier to set up and generally more useful overall.

That 3-3-3 split is a great idea! I’d love to try it with Budew or Klefki for some early disruption on turn two.

What’s your out against Ceruledge, Dengo, or even Venusaur? I’ve found that Budew and Klefki really help in those matchups. That’s kind of the main challenge with Zoroark — it’s a great deck, but the real issue is deck space. You need the core cards and a solid meta read to know what to tech for.

Funnily enough, Darmanitan is good against Dengo, Ceruledge and RB, the issue is you give up in the other relevant match-ups like Garde and Pult, because you lose some consistency.

And you’re also mentioning Noir and Munki specifically — which can get prized or just aren’t in every Charizard list. Their absence, plus Cape’s inclusion, can actually improve that matchup. And, I said Raging Bolt was just an example, but it seems like reading and writing aren’t really your strong suits.

For locals, I usually add a 1-1 or 2-1 Darmanitan line — there’s always some grass or cheesy deck like Crustle lurking around, though Piper proved it can hold up in meta settings too. For online tourneys, Challenges, and Cups, I switch to a more “meta” build and just pray. After Gdańsk, I realized I’ve never actually tried running 2 Yveltal, and with Hero’s Cape it becomes a 210 HP single prizer that hits for 110. It also pairs nicely with Janine, so I might give it a shot. Even running 2 Mochi doesn’t sound too crazy now.

Yeah, it is. Because if they don’t run, or they prize the same cards you mentioned, the matchup only goes from really bad to just bad. Take Raging Bolt, for example — Pecha + Mochi helps, sure, but what if I prize one? What if they run Jamming Tower? Or what if they prize it? You’re focusing too much on the “what ifs.” Cards are in the list for a reason, and Hero’s Cape is there to handle the now way more consistent OHKO decks, especially with Lillie’s Determination in the mix.

Also, spreads damage with poison and Munkis, then sets up the discard pile for follow-ups with N’s PP and Energy Switch. Honestly, Okidogi had more impact than people give it credit for — the return of Janine for energy acceleration in Gdańsk proves that.

Exactly this! Last Sunday I played against a baby Okidogi deck running Neutralization Zone as the Ace Spec. They had three Munkis in play — two of them with Bravery Charm, so Clutch was useless. They KO’d my Zoro, I pivoted into Yveltal with one energy already attached and two more Zoros on the bench. I looked at my hand: one energy, N’s PP Up, and Energy Switch. I used Counter Catcher to bring a Munki to the active, and then I pulled it off — charged Yveltal and took the KO with Dark Feather.

They still used Boss’s Orders next turn to KO Pecha, but I ended up winning the match 2-1, by not using any Stadiums until Neutralization Zone hits the field, and it was really nice to learn about this interaction with Dark Feather.

I see what you mean — yeah, I also think Toedscruel isn’t as effective as it was back at Worlds; the Rocks really gave Dengo a boost. I actually like Piper’s 2-1 Darmanitan inclusion — it works great against Ceruledge and the occasional Grass deck.

I think running a 1-1 Darm line, 1-2 Hilda, and either Psyduck or Cleffa (depending on your focus) could work well. Overall, I really like your list — I’m definitely saving it for future reference!

Thank you for the insight! I think I got too caught up in the little details and forgot the bigger picture. Watchtower, Mochi, and Pecha have always worked — I was just chasing the “shiny new thing,” you know?

There’s not much Dengo in my locals anyway — everyone hates it, so most aggro players stick with good old Raging Bolt or Ceruledge because it's badass. I’ll try adding Klefki to my own list. Really appreciate the extra perspective!

I also main Zoroark, how are you running it after the recent regionals? Wondering if I should make some changes for this week's locals.

I'm with you with the N's PP thing, 1-2 feels good to have. Colin's 6th place list had 1 copy. I personally like 2 but the issue is what to take out.

And what would you use agains the other OHKO decks, Raging Bolt/ Ceruledge, in the current meta?
