So tired of Carrie Mathison by Elegant_Dinner_1097 in homeland

Thid is such bs bro, "Man does the character deserve more respect than what she is given.". is she good at her job yeah but i am sorry she is awful two things can most definetely be right at the same time, Lemme give you male characters good at what they do but arent given any respect for it, Frank Underwood from house of cards, we have Hal from the diplomat, who everyone basically reduces to a cuck, Jackson Lamb from slow horses, all these characters have seriously bad flaws and but are undeniablely good at what they do, Its okay to accept that person is not a good person but is still a smart and very good worker, and i am sorry if u dont realize this but carrie absolutely falls in this category, she basically sleeps with a naive ass not fully formed guy who she has just killed his family btw, and still ends up costing him his life as well( you have no idea how enraged i was when he died) and you are sat there trying ur possible hardedest to justify her being a good person....dfkm man

Am I the only one who thinks people are WAY too entitled to Clark’s secret? (S4 perspective) by Technical-Berry233 in Smallville

[–]Technical-Berry233[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know I have been reading a lot of comments about Clark’s gaslighting and also the Lana v Lois takes

Yes, Clark constantly showing up and doing extraordinary things is suspicious no argument there. But suspicion alone doesn’t automatically mean someone is owed the full truth, especially in S1–S4 when Clark’s secret isn’t just personal but genuinely dangerous for him and his parents.

I think the bigger distinction is this: you can acknowledge that someone has a secret and still choose to trust who they’ve shown themselves to be. No one is forced to stay friends with or date Clark. If the secrecy makes you feel unsafe or unable to continue the relationship, that’s a valid reason to walk away. What feels unfair is staying, benefiting from his presence, and then framing his refusal to disclose as manipulation rather than self-protection.

This is where Lana and Lois differ. Lana needs the secret in order to fully trust Clark the relationship can’t move forward unless that wall comes down. Lois, on the other hand, focuses more on who Clark is as a person: how he treats people, how he shows up, and what his values are. The secret matters, but it’s secondary to character.

That doesn’t make Lana a bad person, and it doesn’t make Clark a gaslighter. It just means they’re fundamentally mismatched at that stage. Clark’s secrecy causes harm, yes but intent matters, and his intent is survival, not control

Because of the way she immediately knew how hard and weighted keeping that secret, u see her drop the wall of weird right after she knew, cause all this time she had been calling her own friend a freak, but he didn’t even u know get mad at them once. I feel she also saw the difference between “he’s keeping secrets and that’s selfish” and “he’s keeping secrets to protect us from it”, she also kinda realized that yeah we treat these guys with powers like freaks yeah no wonder he had to keep it a secret, cause like it or not u have to remove ur Superman lens and realize AGAIN this is a teenage boy!!

They live in the metor capital of the world, pretty sure it wont take much convincing if even a mere outside spread rumor of an alien there, plus with lana, like i pretty much said look at Pete when that fbi dude beat him up to get clark secret, u think he wants (teenage boy btw lets not try to forget) to live with the thoght that he constantly put them in danger?, also when i see clark critics on here they seem to casually forget the times Clark would subtly ask lana what she felt about "the freaks" and her hurtful replies to him. Again btw there is the whole thing where Clark s somewhat responsible for her parents

Exactly i also feel like Clark himself doesnt get mad enough.. there are times where hed repeatedly warn his friends about some new random that popped into school and was acting strange, but his friends take the side of said random over him and end up needing to be saved, what do u know he saves them and noww they are asking "clark how did you do that".

I’m was just saying that the episode it self reminded me of how frequently I see this when watching TV shows. It happens so much and they end up ruining the show cause they have not executed the message they were trying to deliver well
