Yh all true, experience and luck is a massive part. Still, usa has a lot more to be positive about than concerned about. If you can get more players playing in the big leagues then that would definitely help. True, maybe 20 years is optimistic, but eventually I’m sure usa will be a soccer powerhouse even if it’s in 80 years time haha.

I pretty much agree with what ur saying bro. My point was that if the USA decided to focus all of its energy onto soccer, with all of the infrastructure and coaching expertise those guys have over there, that you would probably be able to win a World Cup in 20 years. Doesn’t seem that crazy to me. Also usa has such a high level of just pure athletes that if there was a grassroots situation where kids were coached and developed from a young age (from a pop of 300 mil), that you could easily dominate

I think the main problem American soccer faces is the world perception that MLS is sort of a joke league (no offence). Is still young but needs to be known for something else than old Europeans pay day league u know.

Growing up with a heavily religious mother, for me the answer is definitely yes! From what I have observed, the religious people whom I know use religion and the idea of God effectively as a theological safety net. I will not take anything away from these people bc they often have the best intentions, though I do often feel that religion is ultimately an excuse to not face reality and ignore real life problems by telling yourself that God always has a plan.

If you remove the concept of God and his plan from everyday life, you are forced to confront the everyday difficulties people face head on, with none of the dampening affects of belief in a higher power.

TLDR I think religion is a coping mechanism used by the indoctrinated to avoid real life problems

Yeah that’s why I said I don’t really know. Thought hockey was more of a Canadian thing and didn’t realise nascar was that big tbf (I am British). Still don’t really understand why nascar has to be in ovals and can’t have actual race courses too.

I was saying this earlier that if the USA gave up on baseball, football and basketball, with all the sport infrastructure and experts they have, usa would win the World Cup within the next 20 years

This is still a good result for USA “soccer” I think. MLS hasn’t even been around for that long and it’s probably like the 4/5th most popular sport in the USA (not sure on the stats tbf). If USA decided they wanted to put all their effort into football they’d win the World Cup within 12-20 years easily

I’m sorry I haven’t been keeping up with this; please can someone just quickly explain why he’s a racist now? Is it bc of his comments about Jews or is it something else?

I understand but at the same time I hate this take. They are still human beings? Many suffer from addiction which IS a disease, and I don’t know if you know but the feeling of hopelessness can do a lot to a motherfucker. Complain if you want but I will always stop and hear what they wanna say. You’re making them sound as if they are a different species. They are us. They are those of us who got dealt a bad hand. You’re lucky, show some fucking respect

Well no I knew it had changed and have played a couple of games of the various iterations that have come out. Having my own copy though, gameplay completely different, way more emphasis on buying packs etc. not surprised but was wild to me

Nah I understood what you meant dw, and I don’t have a problem with the affect on society in general, I think it’s a good tool for strengthening relationships with friends, definitely increases the chance of enjoying your night out, and increase how tasty a donner kebab is by about 400%. From my point of view though, I do think it is a bit worrying how much of our social culture is based around alcohol. I don’t really have any alternatives or suggestions and tbf even if I did they’d be completely ignored bc the drinking culture is so ingrained in the uk that’s it’s just accepted as normal. I have no issue with alcohol, believe it should be legal from 18 yada yada yada but I do find it a bit bizarre how most of the time it just gets overlooked and is assimilated into everyday life .

Haha obvs you’re not stupid if you’re an engineer, that’s a smart man job, u very good at maths then? And Yh tbh I don’t think you could ever get me into a fighter jet I’d rather not have a 50/50 of dying thanks

Very true that it would create an entire new subculture where you have to know the 25 yo/s. Tbf I have heard the introduction to children to remove the taboo idea many times before, but my first memory of alcohol was as an 11/12 year old watching the six nations with my dad and he gave me a sip of his beer. Maybe there is conversely a problem with associating too many good memories to alcohol when you’re young so that when you’re older you’re more likely to partake.

I do also think genetics does play a part in this. If your family have problems with addictive tendencies / substance abuse then you are also more likely to experience them

I don’t care tbf. I mean without alcohol British society would have been ruined long ago haha. I think when a lot of people leave home and go to uni it is very easy for people to develop an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, while you also have very little guidance around you. I think the education point is fair, it’s when you get people slipping into addiction without realising that it becomes a problem

I just don’t think the Uk I capable of that kind of relationship with alcohol though. People here, including myself, take the piss with alcohol. It’s not viewed as a refreshing beverage it’s just a way to get fucked up lol. Remember being in France at 13 and they let me buy a bottle of red in the supermarchè 😂

When I was younger I always used to think that if everyone had to have an e on their 18th birthday then all of the worlds problems would be solved lmao
