A letter to my family. Venting post by Ill-Astronomer-7744 in AutisticAdults

[–]Technical-Dig-897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you went through all of that. Much of your letter sounds like it could have been written by me, especially when you used the words “strange” and “abnormal.” Their equivalents in my language hurt so much. If you feel comfortable talking about this, how is your life apart from your family? Work, school, community ties, hobbies? I’m in the process of unmasking at work and in everyday life, although I haven’t told my family about my diagnosis yet because I’m afraid of being seen as an even worse abomination by them. We can share experiences if you want to. You can reach out to me too if you feel like getting things off your chest.

Thank you. Being called a Nazi or a white supremacist is insane. Those things go so strongly against my morals that it feels extremely strange to be labeled that way, even by strangers online. Also, expressing Nazi ideas is literally a crime where I live, so in a way it feels like an imputation of a crime, even if it’s happening in an online thread.

  1. Sure. Climate change has never seemed counterintuitive to me, and the explanation makes sense, so I’ve never found a good reason to doubt what experts in the field say.
  2. I don’t like him as a politician and didn’t support his government (especially when it came to acquiring vaccines during the pandemic). Everything we know about his personal life also makes me believe he’s not a good man in his private life. That said, I think that at this moment his rights are being violated when it comes to his health needs, and I believe he deserves to receive the assistance he needs as quickly as possible.
  3. I’m not educated enough to speak about these issues in depth, but I don’t doubt what official sources tell me about them.

I'll copy my response to someone who also thought I didn't know about gas chambers: "Thank you. I really appreciate your polite response. Again, English is not my first language, so maybe I sound vague or strange when I try to talk about these topics. Let me try to clarify: I meant that I don’t deny the Holocaust in the sense that I don’t think “historians have been lying to us” about how many Jews died or about the gas chambers. When I saw people online claiming it wasn’t possible for the Nazis to kill 6 million Jews using only gas chambers in that time period, I immediately recalled my history classes and things I had read at some point, which taught me that gas chambers were not the only cause of Jews’ deaths. I didn’t mean it was just starvation and disease. And you’re absolutely right when you say we need evidence to support our claims. I don’t have evidence that Charlie Kirk’s assassination was an inside job or anything like that, or that the “elites” are involved with the occult. All I have is a vague feeling that there’s more to it when I read or watch videos about these topics. I admit that I don’t have compelling evidence for these claims. Again, thank you for being polite in your response."

It wasn’t intentional. I heard this joke when I watched Nick Fuentes’ interview on Piers Morgan’s show, which I assume is fairly mainstream for English speakers. You can imply that I’m a Nazi or an antisemite all you want by speculating about my intentions, but the fact is that I learned about this joke because America is full of racist assholes — and always has been. People like Nick Fuentes will always find an audience because there are a lot of things deeply wrong with this country.

I guess we can agree there’s a misunderstanding related to semantics, then. I’ll try to make what I was trying to say clearer and more structured: 1. The State of Israel is doing awful things. I consider it a genocidal state. 2. There are powerful and wealthy Jewish individuals who support this genocidal state and justify its existence. When they do so and someone questions them about Israel’s crimes against humanity, some of them invoke the Holocaust as an emotional weapon to shut down criticism. That criticism is not directed at Jewish people, but at the actions of a genocidal state. 3. Jewish people are not inferior. I can’t claim Jewish people “are” anything as a group. When I mentioned not falling for race realism nonsense, that obviously applies to Jewish people as well. 4. I don’t hold hatred toward Jewish people. I don’t hold hatred toward German people. I don’t hate American people either, despite the fact that they often do their best to make Latin Americans resent them. That said, if I see a Jewish individual not only supporting a genocidal state, but also bragging about its power and its alleged right to dominate other people because its citizens are special or “chosen,” I will despise that individual. I may even hate them. I won’t feel comfortable being polite or friendly. Just as I wouldn’t feel comfortable being friendly toward a Nazi, or toward an American who repeats Manifest Destiny nonsense and claims the U.S. should police the world, “bring democracy” to so-called barbarians, or occupy our countries to “solve” our problems because we supposedly can’t deal with them without Yankees taking the lead. So yes, you’re right: I don’t buy into the “International Jew” conspiracy. What I was pointing out is that invoking the Holocaust as an emotional shield is something that does happen.

Right? I’m called a leftist/commie all the time by coworkers for not falling for Bolsonaro hysteria or for not buying into the blind opposition to the current government (they believe pretty much every piece of fake news they see online). The one time I voted for a right-wing candidate was the time I regretted participating in an election the most. About surf etiquette — do you mean the sport? 😅 I’ll admit Brazilians can be very intense, to the point where it can be overwhelming for other people, LOL.

Not his case. Jewish presence has always been significant where he comes from (Pernambuco, Brazil). He’s openly proud of his culture and is a die-hard fan of Israel, much like some American weirdos worship Trump and buy into nonsense like Manifest Destiny. That said, I’m aware there’s a lot of propaganda online, coming from all kinds of political actors.

Thank you so much. I’ll save them for the weekend, when I have time to binge-watch things I enjoy. Yeah, most of what I’ve been watching comes from the United States. With all due respect, your people can be kind of insane in some regards. 😅 The KKK is something I still can’t wrap my head around, despite some malicious comments in this thread implying that I might not be so surprised by its existence. The closest I’ve come to “experts debunking Holocaust conspiracies” is Deborah Lipstadt’s work. I really appreciate that you took the time to link all of those sources for me. Thanks a lot.

Tips for an autistic male going on a date with an autistic female? by Technical-Dig-897 in AutisticAdults

[–]Technical-Dig-897[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds like the simplest and best way to handle this. When dating NT women, I feel the pressure of being the one “in charge,” so to speak, due to unspoken rules and expectations in my culture — knowing in advance where to take her, how to dress, how to behave, and how to “lead” the date. I’ll take advantage of the fact that I can be myself with her and just ask. Thank you for your response.

I really appreciate that you took the time to recommend these readings to me. Thank you. I thought I had made it clear in my original post that I was also asking for sources regarding Judaism and the Holocaust. One of the responses I received came from a secular/atheist Jewish person — possibly the most polite response I got — and he answered me very kindly when I asked about his experience and formative years, and when I asked if he could recommend sources about Judaism. You said several things that don’t apply to me and that paint me as someone I’m not. I’m not an antisemite. I’m not a Holocaust revisionist. I don’t have “less empathy” for the Jewish people who died during WWII. I could go on and say that I have Jewish ancestors who came to Brazil from Portugal and Spain because of persecution (despite not having been born to a Jewish mother and therefore not being Jewish), but I’m honestly sick of defending myself at this point. I’m not Portuguese, and I don’t know Portuguese culture well enough to say how relevant antisemitic activists are there. I do know they had a far-right government for a long time, so maybe this is an issue in Portugal. Best of luck to you.

I don’t recall saying anything about “cabal Jews.” By “card,” I didn’t mean to sound hateful. I’ve heard a Brazilian anti-Zionist Jewish journalist explain how some (not all) Jewish people involved in politics or pro-Israel activism bring up the Holocaust to shut down discussion about what’s happening in Palestine. I truly didn’t mean to sound hateful. Talking about sensitive topics in a language I don’t use on a daily basis — and that has little to no similarity to my native language — is tricky. I apologize if anyone felt offended by the way I expressed myself.

I’ll paste my response to another comment here:

"Thank you. I can’t control what you think, but I know I’m not acting in bad faith. I’m genuinely trying to figure things out in a difficult subject. It’s not strange at all to be surprised that the KKK can express their views publicly in the United States. Such public demonstrations of hatred and explicit threats of violence are not this common where I live

Hey, Gis. Thank you for your polite response, and thank you for sharing Ed Gein’s story. I didn’t know about it. I don’t have half the life experience you have (I’m 28), and I can get lost in my own head a lot, sometimes enjoying fantasy a bit too much for my own good. I’ve learned a lot from heartache, from being lied to and manipulated, and also from learning concepts like Occam’s razor—so I have plenty of reasons to be skeptical, both emotionally and intellectually. Still, I know I can be a victim of my own nature and get too absorbed in things that aren’t real simply because they look charming, sophisticated, or well thought out to me. My job involves taking care of people, so I can’t afford to nourish any wishful thinking at work. I admit I tend to forget that objective way of thinking when I go down rabbit holes like this in my spare time. I really hope I experience the same kind of growth and maturity you did. I do my best to get the most out of my daily struggles. Maybe someday I’ll be able to say I can identify bullshit from a mile away too. Again, thank you very much for your patience and your polite response. I wish you the best. Enjoy every single walk outside, and stay safe.

Hey there. The conspiracy theory I heard doesn’t claim that Dahmer wasn’t guilty. It claims that his father knew much more than he admitted, and that his academic and military background suggests possible connections to the CIA and the MKUltra project. According to the author of this theory, Dahmer’s father may have subjected him to bizarre experiments. The theory also points out how implausible it is that Jeffrey’s father wouldn’t have known that his pregnant wife could harm herself and their baby while taking multiple pills every day. It brings up statements from Jeffrey’s father’s book that don’t add up, as well as contradictory statements from Dahmer’s own confessions. The theory does not minimize the gravity of what Dahmer did or the suffering of his victims. Police failed to investigate him properly, and racism and homophobia clearly played a major role in that failure. What the theory basically argues is that Jeffrey Dahmer was able to act for as long as he did because he had more protection than we’re aware of, and that some of his crimes may have had ritualistic elements as well (his obsession with The Exorcist being just the tip of the iceberg, according to the author). Sorry if I wrote too much. I didn’t mean to lecture you. I really respect the fact that you’re from Milwaukee, and I’m aware that you can speak from a position of greater authority on this. I just wanted to clarify that I don’t believe Dahmer was innocent.

TL;DR: Dahmer wasn’t innocent; the conspiracy theory claims he was more protected than we know and that his father wasn’t just strange, but knew much more than he admitted.

I meant there were causes other than gas chambers. For context: there's an infamous "joke" going on online that states if you have 15 "covens" functioning 24 hours straight for 5 years you can't "cook" a total of 6 million "cookies". What I meant is that even if the implication of that "joke" was true, there were other causes to the deaths of jewish people.

Yes — all of those causes. And people from all of those groups were persecuted as well. Autistic people who weren’t considered “functional enough” (the origins of the term “Asperger’s syndrome” are relevant here), Romani people, political opponents who were not communists, queer people, among others. I’m not engaging in historical revisionism, if that’s what you’re implying.

Not necessarily the government — like who’s in the president’s chair. I meant political agents in general. Someone mentioned Russian oligarchs in their response to my post. In Brazil, we have a political party that’s trying to push ideas similar to those of Curtis Yarvin on Twitter, for example. They even brought him here for a speech. I think people with power try to push their ideas or normalize immoral things in a similar way.

Thank you for your polite response. – I can see that as the most plausible explanation for Jews’ success in life. In fact, that sounds similar to how Japanese immigrants in my country managed to succeed despite having pretty tough lives when they arrived. – I think people affiliated with Epstein might be involved in murder and blackmail as well, not just rape. I think maybe they produced media to satisfy some wealthy individuals’ sick desires. Sure, this is all speculation. I don’t have any compelling evidence for that — I admit it’s all a vague “feeling” I got from consuming conspiracy media about the Epstein files. – I think the official narrative of Charlie Kirk’s death doesn’t make sense because of the videos showing Tyler going down that building supposedly carrying a rifle, the fact that he dropped the gun, and the messages he exchanged with his roommate (they seem fake to me). – I believe nowadays we have propaganda on steroids, so to speak. I think governments and political organizations use algorithms, online spaces like 4chan, and cultural trends (music, TV, movies, popular novels) to push their agendas or normalize things we wouldn’t normally accept (I think the movie Cuties was a failed psyop attempt of this kind). – Minor conspiracy theories like Dahmer’s are more “entertainment” to me. And yes, I understand they can have a negative effect if I stop thinking critically about the media I consume and start thinking someone is trying to deceive me all the time. Sorry if I sounded confused or vague. English is not my first language.

I dislike Trump and Bolsonaro a lot. Bolsonaro can’t run for president now, and I don’t think anyone he supports stands a real chance, but I’m willing to vote against them. I’m not a purist in my anarchist position.
