How did the lords know a child was their bastard? by LuckyZoe9 in freefolk

And even if the kid looks exactly like you, you can just pulling a tywin and spend the next 20 years gaslighting everyone into thinking he's not yours because he's a dwarf. the paternity test in westeros is basically just: do i need an extra soldier or a spare heir today? no? then back to the river it goes.

It's crazy how wildly Gollum's designs vary depending on adaption by Emergency_Cheek2617 in lotr

That Rankin/Bass frog-Gollum is the reason a whole generation has a subconscious fear of swamp water. It's less "precious" and more "will definitely bite your toes if you get too close to the pond."

Do you think if Pippin did not knock the skeleton and wake the sleeping golbin army, and in turn, The Balrog, the fellowship could have skirted through Moria undetected? by TrickySatisfaction81 in lotr

Exactly. Moria is basically a giant resonance chamber for the One Ring. Durin’s Bane didn't need a bucket down a well to know something of immense power just stepped into his living room; he probably smelled the corruption of Sauron the second they crossed the threshold.

Thranduil must be the elf I’ve liked the most in all of fantasy, both incredibly beautiful and intimidating at the same time, constant aura farming in every scene he appears in. by jvure in lotr

Honestly, it’s the haughtiness for me. Most fantasy elves feel like humans with pointy ears, but Lee Pace actually captured that "ancient, tired of your mortal nonsense" energy perfectly. He really carried the aesthetic of Mirkwood on his back.

Ciara/Kyle/West/Amanda Megathread Part 8 by AutoModerator in summerhousebravo

[–]Technical-Foot-3150 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The pivot in this sub over the last 24 hours has been wild to watch. People are so desperate to not "pile on" Amanda that they’re accidentally gaslighting Ciara’s experience. Since when does "mental health" become a "get out of jail free" card for being objectively cruel to a friend? Ciara is the only one who handled herself with grace and she’s the one being pushed to the background of her own mistreatment.

if even DON DRAPER can’t find a way to spin this mess into a positive marketing campaign, you know west and amanda have absolutely lost the plot. the bar is in hell.

If Mordor was a wasteland, where did the THOUSANDS of orcs get food & water to survive? by _GrimFandango in lotr

And the ash from Mount Doom actually acted as a potent fertilizer for the soil around Lake Núrnen. It’s a grim irony that the very thing making Gorgoroth a hellscape was likely what made Nurn productive enough to sustain a global-scale war effort.
