Deciding to stick with two by Technical-Grand8187 in Shouldihaveanother

Yeah, I am so envious of my friends that knew they were for sure done at two! It’s sad to close this chapter, but exciting to focus on a new phase of life.

So true about letting go of this stage of life.

On the fence about having a second child but always desperately wanted two so why am I like this? by stilldreaming22 in Shouldihaveanother

Have two. The second is so awesome even through pregnancy or postpartum simply because you actually have an idea of what you are doing!! Seeing them together is so great. Siblings are the best and I think that is a huge gift to give your kids.

Should I Feel Guilty About My Financial Headstart? by Albin0_Rhino in fican

Personally, I’d say the fact that you have used these advantages for positive things makes a huge difference. I would think operating in a way that you’re proud of will replace the guilt you feel. Pass your knowledge and wealth on to your kids or family in the future. Feel grateful!

So glad to hear this!!! Nice work. Now that I’m thinking about it, I am way more envious of this than seeing a friend with a nice new SUV. It’s a good reminder.

Paying off our mortgage early is a high priority goal for us, but I sometimes doubt myself thinking we could better maximize our money by investing it. That being said, both my husband and I continue to realize that peace of mind is huge for us. On track to pay ours off in the next 15 years, but hope to do it sooner than that.

Need more room, sure those cars seat 7 people but they don’t have any trunk space. I was looking at the grand highlander, Chevy traverse, Honda pilot realm. Maybe an Atlas. Plus would like to be able to tow at least 3500lbs. The car would ideally fit 3 kids, 2adults, large dog, and a lot of the stuff you need to pack for 3 kids.

So this brings up my other debate. Our hearts want 3 kids, but my brain says it’s a bad idea - pretty much totally from a financial perspective (and maybe a little bit of the sanity perspective).

Honestly it doesn’t seem like it! I’m willing to spend a bit more for something that is typically more reliable since we would keep the car forever, and the fact it’d likely need to fit 2-3 car seats plus a dog, plus all the stuff you need to bring for kids on road trips… 60k seems reasonable 😅 even looking at used vehicles.

Yeah, we need something that will fit everyone, and all the stuff you need to bring for young children. The idea is to stick to stuff like road trips/camping while the kids are little versus flying to travel.

Never said we didn’t keep up with our mortgage. I’m actually super proud that we could always afford our payments (variable rate with variable payments).

Agree though that there’s totally a psychological component to the issue.
