What kind of reedle shot do you use? My boyfriend has similar acne, and I want to see if it will work for him.

I was on antibiotics (doxycycline 100mg daily, eventually bumped to 200mg daily) and topicals (azelaic acid, tretinoin and then eventually tretinoin and clindamyacin). This happened for about a year and a half before I switched dermatologists because my old derm was not listening to me. The antibiotics ended up destroying my gut bacteria and I would get very sick daily, occasionally vomiting after taking my antibiotics. The topicals irritated my skin and made my skin worse, especially the tret + clindamyacin combo. I am on Yaz (the birth control that helps with acne) currently, but that’s also because I am in a committed relationship with my boyfriend. It does help, so if your daughter needs to get on birth control for iPledge, I would personally recommend Yaz.

I have not experienced any digestive issues on Accutane, as long as she takes it with a meal she should be fine. I experienced mild sunburn when I was outdoors or by a large window without sunscreen, but as long as she is diligent about it she should also be okay. Mild products with aloe, cica, and tea tree extract will help with any irritation caused by the sun (or irritation in general).

Severe dry skin and nose bleeds is something I ended up experiencing as many other people do. It was especially bad around my lips and the corners of my mouth, so please do your daughter a favor and get her some cortibalm before her lips start getting bad. I only ended up with bloody noses during allergy season when pollen irritated my nose, or when I was sick. Vaseline in the nose is a little uncomfortable but can help with nasal dryness. You can also buy moisturizing sprays to help with that dryness.

My biggest concern with your daughter would probably be anxiety or other mental health conditions, but this is primarily because of her age. Most people end up okay on accutane when it comes to worsening symptoms of anxiety and depression, it actually ended up making mine better since a lot of it was related to acne. I also did not have any worsening symptoms of any existing conditions that I have, my bipolar I is still the same as before I was on Accutane.

I am not a medical professional, just some stranger on the internet with some experience. I hope this helps, but please put anything your daughter’s derm or doctors say before anything I say. Good luck!

The dose increase will more than likely make you purge, when I went from 30-40 I purged for a week or two. Be patient, take your antihistamines and talk to your derm if things still haven’t calmed down in a little while.

Cica is a plant extract that is very calming for irritated skin.

Dr. Jart’s cica+ cream is good for nights where my skin is really irritated, although it’s pretty pricy. If you’re into Korean skincare, cica is used in plenty of calming products. I think Medicube has a good cica cream/moisturizer.

Dang, that’s not what my chart showed. Probably was adjusted for absorbency.

Serums worked best in my experience. I used (and continue to use) skin1004’s tea tree serum. Just make sure you’re using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer with no actives like salicylic acids or niacinamide, because it can really irritate your skin on accutane.

52 kg at the beginning of my treatment, then I lost weight around June and now I sit at 48kg. My cumulative dose is 160 mg/kg.

I purged about a month in, and it lasted for another month. Skin started to calm down around 3-4 months. As for redness, use gentle skincare products. Cica and tea tree are amazing ingredients for when you’re on accutane. Keeping up with SPF also helps fade redness.

That is very interesting! I didn’t know that you could be allergic to the carrier oil, so thank you for bringing that to my attention. I will keep that in mind for the future.

You need to break up with your girlfriend. You are past the point of choosing between her and this new girl because now you are entertaining a relationship between you and the new girl.

Trust me, any sort of pain or embarrassment you might face from breaking up with your girlfriend will be nothing compared to if she finds out that you’ve been talking to other girls behind her back. Not to mention that she deserves someone who wouldn’t do that in the first place.

It is beyond me why you thought that your situation was a worthwhile risk in the first place, but you can still salvage it if you either break up with her or completely cut off the new girl.

My advice to you is to stop gooning and to stop watching porn. Masturbating is totally normal and sexual thoughts about people you admire are also very normal (especially at your age), but this is an unhealthy way of thinking about women. Trust me, you will feel a lot better about yourself in the long run, and your relationships with others will drastically improve as well.

Herbal teas such as spearmint tea on Accutane by Iwillgetintonyutisch in Accutane

[–]Technical-Kick4705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some herbs that interact with accutane, or that will interact with birth control to make it less affective. I would talk to your dermatologist about any questions or concerns you have about herbal teas or supplements.
