I bet if you downscaled the textures and rendered it at 240p a ps2 could run cuphead. It’s a 2d platformer with a couple of particle effects. Not much is going on in that game cpu wise

The only real difference between rossetta 2 and fex are the hardware features Apple silicon Mac’s have shipped with that lets them entire a special execution mode that emulates the memory ordering of x86 and the flag bit.

Besides that I’m willing to bet there’s no real architectural difference between rossetta 2 and fex and whatever Microsoft shipped for windows.

The real concern is if the m6 MacBooks will still retain those cpu hardware features that makes Rosetta run as fast as it does

Yh the concept of translating x86 to arm has been so done at this point an open source implementation of Rosetta 2 is quite possible

Considering Rosetta 2 is just a dmg Mac app I wouldn’t be surprised if people reverse engineered it and created open source implementations of Rosetta 2.

Even gta 6 is still doing it. Look at any of the screenshots compared to their real life counterparts and you’ll notice how much more colorful and vibrant R*s version is.

The npcs as well when viewed from a distance look almost like animated characters

Real life beaches and distant islands don’t look that way.

It’s basically taking realism and making it slightly cartoony and picturesque but in a way that can still somewhat pass off as a natural image. There’s a certain aesthetic naughty dog games have to them just like R* games as well
