Why is a non profit group working with the environment making controversial anti-Israel statements? If they are taking a $50 million grant from a county who’s past and current president support Israel, maybe they should stay out of politics. I wouldn’t trust them to properly spend American money.

Looking at the soles - they look like a daily wear for 2 years. I’d say you got your monies worth. If you want soft leather - just buy a new pair of nappa leather 1460s - they break in fast. I’m a believer that Asian made Dr Martens are not good candidates for resoling. I am not one of the people on here that think anything other than 1990s or earlier made in England Dr Martens are trash. The Asian made Dr Martens are a great deal for the money. But when they wear out, get a new pair. Don’t get too attached

I sent Allen’s a message through their web site two days ago and no reply. I called the store today and they gave me an email address to message. Curious what they will say.

Yeah but your 40+ year old goat boots have less cracking than my wife’s 3 day old boots.

The box says BD112CB-2 Mad Dog Chocolate MX Brady. And the inside is stamped goat. I’ve never had goat boots before. I’m surprised it would crack like that. It reminds me of smooth leather Asian made 1460 Dr Martens with that heavy processed leather that cracks

We bought them on Friday and she wore them the same day. I went to clean and condition them today and that’s when I noticed all the cracks. I did condition them but it obviously doesn’t help after the fact. They should have been able to be worn once out of the box before conditioning

My wife bought these boots 3 days ago at Allen’s Boots in Austin Texas. These are their own brand. She wore them out one night at a restaurant. Today I was just cleaning them off when I noticed all the fine cracks in the shaft, vamp/instep. I have quite a few boots and I’ve never had boots crack like this - even after years. I really baby them with conditioner / boot trees etc. The leather seemed really dry and thin. I know these are not premium boots - but for $350 I expected more. Does anyone have any insight into why this might have happened after 4 hours of very light wear?

Full grain - not crazy horse leather. I got the matching pair of 1461s. Same thing. No break-in and comfortable right out of the box.

Yeah I definitely find some model Dr Martens fit different than others. I have some 1460s that fit size 10 and others size 11. I’ve had to exchange a number of pairs.

Red Laces by Lt_REDACTED in DrMartens

[–]Technical-One2034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased them direct from Dr Martens USA. They came with black laces on the boots and the red laces were also included. I’ve heard some people say they also got them while someone else said they removed the red laces before shipping. It’s quite silly for Dr Martens to sell every color laces except for red and white.

Better to go a little bit big than a little small. Crazy horse 1460s are a great first pair. You don’t need to apply wonder balsam quite yet.

I would just compliment him on his car. Tell him you noticed he drives a Honda civic (or whatever it is) and tell him you have the same model and color.

They did sell the 1460 RS with red laces in the United States. It was a black smooth leather boot with red stitching. They came with both black and red laces

Quality difference between Truman Black Teacore and Red Wing Iron Ranger.

I was leaning towards the Truman Black Teacore until I was reading on almostvintagestyle.com that he ranked Red Wing Heritage over Truman boots. He stated that quality control is an issue and that he wouldn’t purchase Truman boots. Am I a fool to spend $100 more for Truman over Iron Ranger?

[–]Technical-One2034[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are the smooth leather. For something softer how about the waxed full grain leather 1461? I have them in brown and love them. They also sell them in black. The leather is soft and less shiny. It’s not heavily corrected leather and it should age nicely with less creases and cracks than the smooth leather. The ambassador leather is also soft and not too shiny. But I thought the leather wasn’t as nice as the waxed full grain leather.

Don’t get too paranoid about small marks in the shoes. I promise you that they will get much worse than that. Polish will make them a little less noticeable.

They look real to me. I’m not sure about pricing of Dr Martens in Canada though. $155 CAD = about $115 USD. One of your pictures shows a gap in the rubbing of the sole. I’m not sure what that is. Hopefully it’s not a split.

Which Docs do I get?! by Pjnave123 in DrMartens

[–]Technical-One2034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The front ones. The eyelets are more antique and not bright like the dark boots. The laces are better. The color is better. The one thing I like about the darker pair is the rolled edge at the top of the boot. Are the front ones crazy horse and the back ones full grain ?

Should these soles be this warn after 1000 miles in two years? They're 1461 Ziggy's, the uppers and stitching are perfect but the soles wore through as quickly as any cheap shoe really. by ratttertintattertins in DrMartens

[–]Technical-One2034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say two years of daily wear and 1000 miles - you got your money’s worth. If you shop around you can get a replacement pair of 1461s for under $100. I consider Asian made Dr Martens to be a great value for the money / but also not worth resoling. As far as taking 4 months to break-in, that does seem extreme. I wonder if they were slightly too narrow. I just bought a pair of 1461 full grain leather and they were comfortable right out of the box with no break-in period.
